Who Needs This Product

The rope grab is the moving connection on a vertical lifeline: it follows the worker up and down the line and locks instantly when a fall starts. Trailing and self-tracking models follow hands-free, manual models set by hand, and anti-panic versions lock even if the worker grabs the device in a fall, the instinctive reaction that defeats lesser grabs.

  4. Work the line. Trailing models follow; manual models set above the work.

  • Body and hinge: no cracks, wear, or corrosion.
  • Lanyard (where fitted): webbing and absorber condition.
  • Lock test: grabs the line on a sharp pull.

Retirement triggers: any fall arrest event, failed lock test, or visible damage.

Frequently Asked Questions

What rope does this grab fit?
5/8 in polyester vertical lifelines, the standard FallTech VLL diameter. Verify rope specification before use; a grab on the wrong rope diameter may not lock.
What does anti-panic mean?
If a falling worker instinctively grabs the device, an anti-panic mechanism locks anyway. Grabs without it can be held open by that grip, riding the rope down.
Trailing or manual?
Trailing grabs follow you hands-free as you move, the right choice for production work. Manual grabs set at a point and reposition by hand, fine for fixed-position tasks.
Can it go on the rope mid-line?
Hinged models open to install at any point on the lifeline without threading from the end, arrow up toward the anchor.
What standard applies?
ANSI Z359.15 for fall arresters on flexible lifelines, with OSHA 1926.502. See the DoC in the submittals.
