TAN10RURP MEGApod Confined Space 10 ft Aluminum Tripod with 60 ft Winch and 3-Way SRL

The Frontline TAN10RURP is a complete MEGApod confined space package: a 10 ft aluminum tripod with an aluminum cast head and telescopic legs, paired with a 60 ft winch and a 3-way retrieval SRL on a universal bracket - everything an entry team needs to lower, work, and rescue over a round opening.

The tripod's height adjusts via sliding telescopic legs (49.21 in to 88.18 in on the 7 ft head), with locking pins and non-slip shoes for a stable stance over the hole. The 60 ft winch handles material and personnel lifting while the 3-way SRL provides fall arrest and non-entry retrieval. Built to OSHA 1910.146 and ANSI Z359.

Confined space demands a rescue plan. This equipment is part of an entry and non-entry rescue system, not a substitute for the written, practiced rescue plan OSHA 1910.146 requires. Verify every anchorage, base, and connection per the Frontline manual before any entry, and train your team first.

How to Use the TAN10RURP

Follow the manufacturer's manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Inspect. Check all load-bearing parts, moving parts, and the line before each use.
  2. Set up per the manual. Install and rig exactly as the Frontline manual specifies.
  3. Rig the system. Run the retrieval and/or fall arrest lines through the correct points.
  4. Connect the worker. Attach the harness per the rescue plan.
  5. Function-test. Test retrieval and confirm the plan with the attendant before entry.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least every 6 months. Pull the equipment from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Visual: deformation, cracks, corrosion, or damaged welds on load-bearing parts.
  • Moving parts: pulleys, swivels, winch drum, and locks operate freely and lock positively.
  • Line/cable: no broken wires, kinks, fraying, or corrosion; spools cleanly.
  • Connectors and fasteners: present, correct, and fully engaged per the manual.
  • Labels and markings: present and legible.

Retire the equipment immediately after any fall arrest event or if any inspection point fails. Destroy retired equipment so it cannot return to service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Frontline TAN10RURP MEGApod package?
The TAN10RURP is a complete MEGApod confined-space kit built around a 10 ft aluminum tripod with a cast-aluminum head and telescopic legs, paired with a 60 ft winch and a 60 ft 3-way retrieval SRL on a universal bracket. It gives an entry team the height, lifting, and rescue capability to work over a round opening, and is built to OSHA 1910.146 and ANSI Z359.
What is included in the kit?
You get the 10 ft aluminum tripod, a 60 ft material-and-personnel winch, a 3-way retrieval SRL, and the universal bracket that carries the winch and SRL. Add a full-body harness for the entrant and a trained attendant.
Why choose the 10 ft tripod over the 7 ft?
The taller 10 ft head gives more clearance above the opening, which helps when lifting longer loads or a worker plus equipment, or when the opening sits below grade. For standard headroom the 7 ft TAN07RURP is the lighter, more compact choice.
How does the tripod set up and stay stable?
The telescopic aluminum legs adjust and lock with pins, and non-slip shoes hold the stance over the opening. Always set it on firm, level footing and confirm the legs are locked before anyone ties off.
What is the difference between the winch and the 3-way SRL?
The 60 ft winch raises and lowers material and personnel, while the 3-way SRL provides fall arrest plus retrieval. They run as two independent lines so the worker stays protected by the SRL while the winch does the lifting.
What is it used for?
It is built for round-opening confined-space entry, work, and non-entry rescue - tanks, manholes, vaults, and pits - where extra overhead height is useful. The tripod straddles the opening and the head carries the lifting and rescue lines.
Is the TAN10RURP OSHA compliant?
Yes - it is built to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146 for permit-required confined spaces, tested to ANSI Z359, and aligns with OSHA 1926. Operators must be trained and the system rigged per the Frontline manual.
