Who Needs This Product

The A5 glove is built for crews who handle the sharpest materials on the jobsite. Cut Level A5 is the top tier of cut protection in everyday work-glove use, so it suits metal fabrication, glass and glazing, HVAC sheet-metal work, demolition, and any task where blades or sharp edges are constant. The 13-gauge knit and breathable build keep the glove thin enough for tool work while the polyurethane palm holds grip in dry and lightly oily conditions. These gloves are personal protective equipment for the hands and are not part of a fall protection system.

Breathable 13-gauge knit

A lightweight 13-gauge knit shell keeps hands cool and dexterous through long shifts in warm conditions.

Touchscreen fingertips

Touchscreen-compatible fingertips allow a worker to use a phone or tablet without removing a glove.

Cut resistance is not cut proof. ANSI/ISEA Cut Level A5 reduces the risk of cuts from blades and edges but does not eliminate it. Match the cut level to the task, inspect each glove before use, and retire any glove with cuts, holes, worn coating, or exposed shell yarn. These gloves are hand protection only and are not rated for fall protection, electrical, chemical, or heat hazards.

Compliance Standards

ANSI/ISEA 105-2016 Cut Level A5

American National Standard for hand protection classification, cut resistance tier A5 on the A1 to A9 scale.

ANSI/ISEA 105 Abrasion Level 3

Classified at abrasion resistance Level 3 under the same hand protection standard.

ANSI/ISEA 105 Puncture Level 3

Classified at puncture resistance Level 3 under the same hand protection standard.

OSHA 29 CFR 1910.138

OSHA hand protection rule requiring appropriate gloves where workers face cut, laceration, or abrasion hazards.

Sizing, Use, and Care

Choose a snug fit so the glove moves with the hand without bunching at the palm. Measure around the dominant hand at the knuckles, just below the fingers, to pick a size.

  • Medium suits hand circumferences near 8 inches, Large near 9 inches, and X-Large near 10 inches; size up if you are between sizes or layering a liner.
  • Inspect each glove before use for cuts, holes, worn or peeling palm coating, and exposed or frayed shell yarn.
  • Retire any glove that has been cut through, has lost coating coverage, or no longer fits snugly, since worn gloves no longer deliver the rated cut protection.
  • Keep gloves clean and dry between uses; follow the care guidance on the packaging, and do not modify the gloves.
  • These gloves protect only against cuts, abrasions, and punctures and are not rated for fall protection, heat, electrical, or chemical exposure.

Frequently Asked Questions

What cut level are the Malta Dynamics A5 work gloves?
They are rated ANSI/ISEA Cut Level A5, the highest everyday tier on the A1-A9 hand protection scale. A5 gloves are intended for high cut-hazard tasks such as metal fabrication, glass handling, and demolition. The same gloves are also classified at abrasion Level 3 and puncture Level 3 under ANSI/ISEA 105-2016.
What is the palm coating and how does it grip?
The palm is coated in non-slip polyurethane, which gives a secure grip on tools and materials in dry and lightly oily conditions while keeping the glove thin and dexterous. Polyurethane is a good match for precision handling where a thick rubber dip would reduce feel.
Can I use a touchscreen while wearing these gloves?
Yes. The fingertips are touchscreen compatible, so a worker can use a phone or tablet without removing a glove. This keeps hands protected between tasks that need screen input.
What sizes and pack quantities are available?
The A5 glove comes in Medium, Large, and X-Large. Each size is sold as a 24-pair pack or a 144-pair case, so you can buy for a single worker or stock a full crew. Measure around the dominant hand at the knuckles to choose a size, and size up if you are between sizes.
Are these gloves insulated for cold weather?
No. The A5 glove is a lightweight, breathable warm-weather glove built for dexterity, not warmth. For cold conditions, Malta Dynamics offers the Insulated Cut Level A4 work glove, which adds a warm lining while keeping a high cut rating.
When should an A5 glove be retired?
Remove a glove from service when it has been cut through, has holes, has worn or peeling palm coating, shows exposed or frayed shell yarn, or no longer fits snugly. A worn glove no longer delivers the rated A5 cut protection. Inspect every glove before each use.
Do these gloves protect against anything besides cuts?
They are classified for cut, abrasion, and puncture resistance under ANSI/ISEA 105-2016. They are not rated for heat, flame, electrical, or chemical hazards, and they are hand protection only, not part of a fall protection system. Choose a glove for each hazard present on the task.
