Heavy-Duty Steel Carabiner with 2 Inch Gate

The 18D-1 is the big-mouth connector: a heavy-duty steel carabiner whose automatic twist-lock gate opens a full 2 inches, closing directly over angle iron, pipe, and anchorage points that swallow smaller hardware.

ANSI Z359-2007 compliant with an automatic locking action that closes and locks itself the moment the gate is released.

Frequently Asked Questions

What fits through a 2 inch gate?
Pipe, angle iron, rebar clusters, and oversized anchor rings that defeat 1 inch connectors.
What does automatic locking mean?
The gate locks itself the instant it closes; opening requires the deliberate twist-and-press, but locking needs no action at all.
Can it anchor directly to structure?
Yes, on members within the gate capacity that meet OSHA anchorage strength, loaded on the spine per the instructions.
Where is it used?
Anchor-end connections, davit and tripod rigging, and anywhere the anchor hardware runs big.
Is it rated for fall arrest?
Yes: ANSI Z359-2007 compliant with full connector strength ratings.
How is it different from the 17D?
Double the gate opening and a heavier build, versus the 17D 2-pack value format for standard interfaces.
How often does it need inspection?
Before each use: gate action, lock function, cracks, corrosion. Competent person inspection annually.
