H500 Industry Harness, Mating Buckles

The Miller H500 series was designed around four worker-centric value drivers: ergonomic safety, usability, style, and value. This H5ISP11100 configuration pairs dorsal (back) with a mating chest buckle and mating leg buckles, on the specially formulated webbing that flexes to body contours instead of fighting them.

Certified to ANSI Z359.11, CSA Z259.10, and compliant with OSHA 1926.502 and 1910.140, the H500 supports a 420 lb maximum working load. Breathable pressure-relief padding, smart impact indicators, and a dedicated SRL web link come standard across the series.

S/M fits workers up to 5 ft 10 in and 170 lb, or up to 190 lb at 5 ft 6 in and under. Universal (L/XL) covers the broad middle and is the most popular size. XXL/XXXL fits workers over 6 ft who weigh over 270 lb, and any worker from 350 to 400 lb. Lighter boundary bands are overlap zones where either size fits: size down for a trim fit or up for room over layers. Some Miller spec sheets list these as Size 1 (S/M), Size 2 Universal (L/XL), and Size 3 (2XL and 3XL). Based on the manufacturer's published Miller sizing chart; verify fit per the user manual before first use.

Who Needs This Product

The H500 series is Miller's mid-level platform, designed around ergonomic safety, usability, and style: specially formulated webbing that flexes with body contours, breathable pressure-relief padding, and smart details like impact indicators and a dedicated SRL link. The all-mating version is the value entry to the H500 platform. Crews that need premium DualTech webbing step up to the H700 or Revolution lines, and budget buyers can look at the H100 and Titan II series.

Features

Mating Buckles Throughout

Interlocking mating buckles at the chest and legs give one buckle style to train, a glance-verified connection, and nothing to foul with dirt or ice.

Pressure-Relief Padding

Ergonomically designed breathable shoulder and back padding relieves pressure points and keeps workers drier and cooler, with detachable soft shoulder pads and a foam waist pad for lumbar support.

Dedicated SRL Web Link

A purpose-built web link at the dorsal position attaches personal SRLs cleanly, keeping the D-ring free and the connection oriented correctly.

Smart Impact Indicators

Clearly identifiable impact indicators show at a glance whether the harness has been loaded in a fall, taking the guesswork out of inspections.

Anti-Tangle Design

The harness holds its shape off the hook, so donning is a shake and a shrug instead of a wrestling match with twisted straps.

Resettable Lanyard Keepers

User-friendly keepers stow unused lanyard legs and reset instead of tearing away, keeping connectors off the ground and out of snag range.

Check the impact indicators before every use. A deployed indicator means the harness has arrested a fall and must be removed from service immediately. Adjust all five points so the dorsal D-ring sits between the shoulder blades before the first step up.

Compliance Standards

ANSI Z359.11

Certified to the ANSI/ASSE Z359.11 standard for full body harnesses, covering design, testing, and marking requirements.

OSHA 1926.502 and 1910.140

Meets OSHA requirements for personal fall arrest system body wear in both construction and general industry.

CSA Z259.10

Certified to CSA Z259.10 for full body harnesses, marked for use on Canadian jobsites.

ANSI Z359.2

The inspection program follows ANSI Z359.2: user inspection before each use plus documented competent person inspection at least annually.

Typical Applications

Industrial maintenance and plant work with daily harness wear.
General construction fall arrest from the dorsal D-ring.
Crews standardizing one mid-level harness across US and Canadian jobsites.
Roofing work when paired with a compliant anchor and connecting device.
Scaffold, mezzanine, and steel work with overhead tie-off points.
Safety programs that want impact indicators for faster, surer inspections.

Donning Overview

  1. Hold the harness by the back D-ring and shake it out so the straps hang free without twists.
  2. Slip the shoulder straps on like a vest, keeping the webbing flat against the body.
  3. Connect the chest buckle and position the chest strap across the middle of the chest.
  4. Fasten each leg buckle so the strap allows a flat hand between the strap and the leg, but not a fist.
  5. Work through all five adjustment points until the dorsal D-ring rests between the shoulder blades, then stow the strap ends.

Full donning and adjustment instructions are in the Miller harness manual linked in the documentation section below.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect this harness before each use, and have a competent person other than the user formally inspect it at least annually per ANSI Z359.2. Check each point below and record the results on the inspection form linked in the documentation section.

  • Webbing: cuts, frays, burns, chemical damage, UV fading, or broken stitching anywhere on the harness.
  • Hardware: D-rings and buckles for cracks, corrosion, distortion, or sharp edges.
  • Adjusters and keepers: slippage, missing keepers, or strap ends that will not stay stowed.
  • Labels: present and legible, including the size, standards, and serial information.

Retirement triggers: any fall arrest event, any webbing or hardware defect found during inspection, or any condition where the inspector cannot positively verify the harness is fit for service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What buckles does the H5ISP11100 use?
The chest closes with mating hardware and the legs use mating buckles. With mating hardware at every strap there is only one buckle style to train across the crew.
What is the dedicated SRL web link?
It is a purpose-built webbing link at the dorsal position for attaching a personal SRL. The SRL hangs correctly oriented, the dorsal D-ring stays free, and connecting is faster than fighting a carabiner onto a loaded D-ring.
What do the impact indicators show?
The stitched indicators deploy visibly if the harness is loaded in a fall arrest. Any deployed indicator means the harness is done: remove it from service immediately, even if the webbing otherwise looks fine.
What is the maximum working load?
The H500 is rated for a 420 lb maximum working load, which includes the worker plus all clothing, tools, and equipment carried. Confirm your connecting device carries a matching rating.
Is this harness CSA certified for Canada?
Yes. The manufacturer certifies this H500 configuration to CSA Z259.10 in addition to ANSI Z359.11 and OSHA 1926.502 and 1910.140. Verify the CSA marking on the label at receipt.
How is the H500 different from the H100 and Titan II?
The H500 is the mid-level platform: it adds flexible formulated webbing, breathable pressure-relief padding, an SRL web link, impact indicators, and resettable keepers over the entry-level lines, at a price still well below premium DualTech harnesses.
How often does the harness need to be inspected?
Inspect it before each use, and have a competent person inspect it at least annually per ANSI Z359.2. Retire the harness after any fall arrest event, any deployed impact indicator, or any failed inspection.
