Revolution Arc-Rated Harness

The arc-rated Revolution is engineered for falls caused by arc flash and arc blast: Kevlar/Nomex DualTech webbing with 10,000 lb tensile strength, leather insulators between the worker and metal hardware, a Kevlar web loop for metal-free frontal connections, and bright red binding that identifies arc-rated gear at a glance.

Certified to ASTM F887 and listed as meeting OSHA, ANSI, and CSA requirements with a 400 lb weight capacity, this is the harness for energized work at height.

S/M fits workers up to 5 ft 10 in and 170 lb, or up to 190 lb at 5 ft 6 in and under. Universal (L/XL) covers the broad middle and is the most popular size. XXL/XXXL fits workers over 6 ft who weigh over 270 lb, and any worker from 350 to 400 lb. Lighter boundary bands are overlap zones where either size fits: size down for a trim fit or up for room over layers. Some Miller spec sheets list these as Size 1 (S/M), Size 2 Universal (L/XL), and Size 3 (2XL and 3XL). Based on the manufacturer's published Miller sizing chart; verify fit per the user manual before first use.

Who Needs This Product

Around energized equipment, an arc event does two things at once: it burns and it knocks the worker off the structure. The RKNAR is built for both, keeping the webbing intact through the exposure and the worker connected through the fall. Utility, substation, and electrical transmission crews get the full Revolution comfort system underneath.

Features

ASTM F887 Certified

Built and certified for electric arc flash and arc blast exposure, with 10,000 lb tensile Kevlar/Nomex webbing.

Leather Insulators and Kevlar Loop

Leather barriers isolate the worker from metal hardware, and the Kevlar web loop enables metal-less connections with compatible Kevlar lanyards.

PivotLink Connections

Rotary PivotLink connection points move with the worker and double as attachment points for tools and accessories.

ErgoArmor Back Shield

The back shield spreads and softens the impact of snap hooks and lifelines riding against the spine.

Dual-Tab QC Buckles

Quick connect buckles with dual-tab release click shut in seconds and cannot open accidentally.

Cam One-Hand Adjustment

Cam buckles let the worker adjust straps with one hand, even simultaneously on both sides.

Fit before the first step up. Use the cam buckles to set the dorsal D-ring between the shoulder blades, the chest strap mid-chest, and the leg straps to a flat hand but not a fist. A harness that has arrested a fall is done: remove it from service immediately.

Compliance Standards

ASTM F887

Certified to ASTM F887 arc flash requirements for harnesses exposed to electric arc hazards.

ANSI Z359.11

Certified to the ANSI/ASSE Z359.11 standard for full body harnesses, covering design, testing, and marking requirements.

OSHA 1926.502 and 1910.140

Meets OSHA requirements for personal fall arrest system body wear in both construction and general industry.

CSA Z259.10

Certified to CSA Z259.10 for full body harnesses, marked for use on Canadian jobsites.

Typical Applications

Utility line work and substation maintenance at height.
Electrical construction inside the arc flash boundary.
Arc-exposed industrial maintenance with US and Canadian certification needs.
Wind, solar, and battery plant electrical work with fall exposure.
Welding and hot work adjacent to energized equipment.
Any energized environment where standard webbing is fuel.

Donning Overview

  1. Hold the harness by the back D-ring and shake it out so the straps hang free without twists.
  2. Slip the shoulder straps on like a vest, keeping the webbing flat against the body.
  3. Connect the chest buckle and position the chest strap across the middle of the chest.
  4. Fasten each leg buckle so the strap allows a flat hand between the strap and the leg, but not a fist.
  5. Work through all five adjustment points until the dorsal D-ring rests between the shoulder blades, then stow the strap ends.

Full donning and adjustment instructions are in the Miller harness manual linked in the documentation section below.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect this harness before each use, and have a competent person other than the user formally inspect it at least annually per ANSI Z359.2. Check each point below and record the results on the inspection form linked in the documentation section.

  • Webbing: cuts, frays, burns, chemical damage, UV fading, or broken stitching anywhere on the harness.
  • Hardware: D-rings and buckles for cracks, corrosion, distortion, or sharp edges.
  • Adjusters and keepers: slippage, missing keepers, or strap ends that will not stay stowed.
  • Labels: present and legible, including the size, standards, and serial information.

Retirement triggers: any fall arrest event, any webbing or hardware defect found during inspection, or any condition where the inspector cannot positively verify the harness is fit for service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the red binding mean?
Miller binds all arc-rated Revolution harnesses in bright red so a supervisor can verify at a glance that everyone inside the arc flash boundary is wearing arc-rated gear.
What is the Kevlar web loop for?
It enables a metal-less frontal connection with compatible Kevlar lanyards, removing conductive hardware from the front of the body in energized environments.
What is DualTech webbing?
DualTech is a two-faced webbing: a durable exterior that takes jobsite abrasion, bonded to a soft interior face that rides against the worker. On the Kevlar/Nomex versions, the exterior is fire-retardant Kevlar and the interior is softer FR Nomex.
What are PivotLink connections?
PivotLink is Miller's rotary connection design at the harness junctions: the links rotate with the worker's movement instead of binding, and they double as modular attachment points for tools, belts, and accessories.
What is the maximum working load?
Revolution harnesses support a 400 lb weight capacity including clothing, tools, and equipment. Confirm your connecting device carries a matching rating.
Is this harness CSA certified?
Yes. The manufacturer lists the Revolution line as meeting OSHA, ANSI Z359.11, and CSA Z259.10 requirements. Verify the markings on the label at receipt.
How often does the harness need to be inspected?
Inspect it before each use, and have a competent person inspect it at least annually per ANSI Z359.2. Retire the harness after any fall arrest event, any deployed impact indicator, or any failed inspection.
