Super Anchor ARS I-Joist Permanent Roof Anchor for Engineered I-Joists

The Super Anchor ARS I-Joist anchor carries the same features and benefits as the ARS series but is shaped to fit engineered I-joists. It covers the two most common flange widths, 1-3/4 inch up to 2-3/4 inch, and installs using the drill through method with optional backer boards for a secure fit. The anchor is fabricated from 11 gauge stainless steel.

Like the rest of the ARS line, the I-Joist anchor is compatible with the full range of Super Anchor flashing bases and stem covers for a waterproof asphalt or metal roof installation. It meets OSHA 1926.502 and ANSI Z359.18-17 Type D with a 5,000 pound minimum breaking strength.

This product is sold as a 3-pack.

Who Needs This Product

The ARS I-Joist anchor is a permanent fall arrest anchor for builders and roofers working on homes framed with engineered I-joists rather than dimensional lumber top chords. Its shape fits the common I-joist flange widths that a standard 2x anchor cannot. Complete the system with a full-body harness, a connecting device, and a competent-person layout.

  1. Locate the anchor. Position below the hip or ridge per a competent-person layout onto an I-joist rated for the load.
  2. Drill through. Install using the drill through method, adding a backer board where a secure fit requires it.
  3. Attach. Fasten with the supplied hardware following the ARS instruction manual.
  4. Flash. Install the matching asphalt or metal flashing base and stem cover for a waterproof seal.
  5. Verify. Confirm the connector hole is accessible, connect your PPE, and confirm fall clearance.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least annually. Remove the product from service for any condition below.

  • Anchor body: cracks, deformation, corrosion, or elongated holes.
  • Coating: worn or damaged galvanizing, dacromet, or powder coat at the connection point.
  • Fasteners and flashing: loose, missing, backed-out, or leaking hardware.
  • D-ring or connection point: burrs, sharp edges, or excessive wear.
  • Labels: illegible or missing product identification.

Retire the anchor immediately after any fall-arrest event, or if any inspection point fails.
