Lost or damaged the D-ring on your SSRA1 Standing Seam Roof Anchor? This replacement kit gets your anchor back in service. It includes one FallTech 7414 plated steel bolt-on D-ring anchor, the same style D-ring the SSRA1 ships with, plus the two Grade 8 top bolts and washers that fasten it to the SSRA1 body.

The FallTech 7414 is certified to ANSI Z359.18-2017 and rated for 5,000 lb (22.2 kN), for one worker up to 310 lb (ANSI) or 425 lb (OSHA).

Who Needs This Product

This kit is for SSRA1 owners who need to replace a lost, damaged, or retired D-ring and its mounting hardware. It is a replacement part only and does not include the SSRA1 anchor body or set screws. If you need a complete anchor, see the SSRA1 Standing Seam Roof Anchor.

What Is Included

(1) FallTech 7414 D-ring

Forged D-ring on a plated steel bolt-on plate, the same style used on the SSRA1.

(2) Grade 8 top bolts

3/8-16 x 7/8 in with a 9/16 in hex head, the bolts that fasten the D-ring plate to the SSRA1 body.

(2) Washers

One washer for each top bolt.

Install per the SSRA1 instruction manual. Use only the supplied Grade 8 bolts and washers, tighten them as the manual specifies, and inspect the complete anchor before use. Never use an SSRA1 with a missing, loose, or damaged D-ring or top bolt.

How to Install on Your SSRA1

Follow the SSRA1 instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Remove the anchor from service. Take the SSRA1 off the roof before replacing the D-ring.
  2. Inspect the body. Check the SSRA1 body and threaded holes for damage. Do not use a body with damaged threads.
  3. Position the D-ring. Set the 7414 plate on top of the SSRA1 body, aligned with the two threaded holes.
  4. Install the bolts. Place a washer on each Grade 8 bolt, thread both bolts in, and tighten them with a 9/16 in wrench or socket as the manual specifies.
  5. Inspect before use. Confirm the D-ring is secure and moves freely, then install the SSRA1 on the seam per the manual.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the same D-ring that comes on the SSRA1?
Yes. The SSRA1 uses a FallTech 7414 style D-ring on a plated steel plate, and this kit supplies a FallTech 7414 with the two top bolts and washers that mount it.
What hardware is included?
Two Grade 8 top bolts, 3/8-16 x 7/8 in with a 9/16 in hex head, and two washers, one for each bolt.
Does this include the SSRA1 anchor body?
No. This is a replacement D-ring and hardware only. The SSRA1 anchor body and set screws are sold separately.
Can I use hardware store bolts instead?
Use the supplied Grade 8 bolts. Lower-grade bolts are not equivalent and can compromise the strength of the anchor. In testing the SSRA1 held 14,500 lb before the Grade 8 top bolts sheared.
What tool do I need to install it?
A 9/16 in wrench or socket for the top bolts. Tighten them as the SSRA1 instruction manual specifies.
When should I replace my SSRA1 D-ring?
Replace it if it is lost, cracked, bent, corroded, has sharp edges, or has been through a fall-arrest event. Also replace any top bolt with damaged threads.
Can a D-ring be reused after a fall?
No. Remove the anchor from service after any fall-arrest event, and have a competent person inspect the complete SSRA1 before it is returned to service.
