Who Needs This Product

This product is a vinyl-coated cable carabiner sling anchor, the anchorage component of a personal fall arrest system. Crews who want a fast clip-on loop anchor that protects finished surfaces wrap it around a rated member and snap the carabiner to the D-ring, then connect an SRL or lanyard. You still need a certified full-body harness and a compatible connecting device to complete the system.

Features

Carabiner connection

Alloy-steel carabiner clips to the D-ring for a fast, secure loop.

Vinyl-coated cable

Protective coating shields finished surfaces and the wire rope.

Steel wire rope

Galvanized cable resists cuts and abrasion better than webbing.

Several lengths

Available from 3 ft to 8 ft to fit the member.

Reusable and portable

Snaps on and off fast and stows easily.

ANSI Z359.18-2017

Certified anchorage rated for 5,000 lb (22.2 kN).

Confirm the carabiner is locked and the structure is rated. Make sure the carabiner gate is fully closed and locked, the structure supports at least 5,000 lb, and edges are not sharp. Confirm fall clearance and swing-fall with the Fall Protection Calculator below.

Compliance Standards

ANSI Z359.18-2017

American National Standard for anchorage connectors. 5,000 lb (22.2 kN).

OSHA 29 CFR 1926.502

Federal construction fall protection anchorage requirements.

OSHA 29 CFR 1910

General industry personal fall protection requirements.

5,000 lb rated

Minimum breaking strength of 5,000 lb (22.2 kN).

How to Install

Follow the FallTech instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Inspect. Check the webbing, stitching, and hardware for damage before each use.
  2. Choose a rated anchor point. Confirm the structure supports at least 5,000 lb and is free of sharp or abrasive edges.
  3. Wrap the structure. Pass the anchor around the beam, column, or member in the approved configuration.
  4. Connect. Attach your SRL or energy-absorbing lanyard to the anchor connection point.
  5. Check clearance. Confirm fall clearance and swing-fall with the calculator below.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least annually. Remove the anchor from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Wire rope: kinks, birdcaging, broken wires, corrosion, or crushing.
  • Swages and thimbles: cracks, slippage, or deformation.
  • Hardware (carabiner, hook, D-ring, or O-ring): deformation, corrosion, or a gate that will not lock.
  • Coating (if present) and labels: heavy damage, or illegible markings.

Remove the anchor from service immediately after any fall-arrest event, and destroy retired equipment so it cannot return to service.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does a carabiner sling anchor work?
Wrap the cable around a rated member and clip the alloy-steel carabiner back to the D-ring to form a loop, then connect your SRL or lanyard.
What does the vinyl coating do?
The coating protects finished surfaces from the cable and shields the wire rope, while keeping the cut and abrasion resistance of steel.
What lengths are available?
This anchor comes in 3', 4', 6', 8'. Pick a length that wraps your structure with the connection point clear.
What is the rated strength and capacity?
It has a minimum breaking strength of 5,000 lb (22.2 kN) and is certified to ANSI Z359.18-2017 for one worker up to 310 lb.
How is this different from the uncoated version?
The cable, carabiner, and rating are the same; this version adds a vinyl coating to protect finished surfaces.
Can I use it over a sharp edge?
Cable is cut-resistant but not cut-proof. Avoid sharp, jagged edges and use edge protection where needed.
Can it be reused after a fall?
No. Remove the anchor from service immediately after any fall-arrest event and destroy it so it cannot be reused.
