Who Needs This Product

A dorsal D-ring extender moves the connection point from between your shoulder blades to over your shoulder, where you can actually reach it. Crews connecting and disconnecting SRLs all day, and workers pairing with tie-back devices, run extenders so hookups are one-handed instead of a two-person job. EdgeCore versions carry leading-edge rated construction.

How to Use

Follow the FallTech instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Install on the harness. The extender's loop or connector attaches at the dorsal D-ring per the manual.
  2. Route over the shoulder. The free end D-ring rides where you can see and reach it.
  3. Connect your device. SRL or lanyard clips to the extender D-ring.
  4. Count the length. Add the extender length to your fall clearance calculation.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect with the harness before each use, and at least annually by a competent person.

  • Webbing or cable: cuts, fraying, kinks.
  • D-rings: no cracks, nicks, or corrosion.
  • Stitching and terminations: intact.

Retirement triggers: any fall loading, webbing or hardware damage, or a failed inspection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why use a dorsal extender?
The dorsal D-ring sits between your shoulder blades where you cannot see or reach it. An extender relocates the connection over your shoulder so SRL and lanyard hookups are one-handed and verifiable.
Does it change my fall clearance?
Yes. Add the extender length to your total fall distance calculation. The calculator on this page accounts for it.
What is EdgeCore?
FallTech's leading-edge rated construction: the load path survives contact with a sharp edge, which standard web extenders are not tested for. Use EdgeCore versions with leading-edge SRLs.
Is it compatible with my harness?
The loop or hook installs on any full body harness dorsal D-ring per the instructions, without tools.
