Who Needs This Product

This product is a self-retracting lifeline (SRL) - a fall-arrest connecting device that pays out and retracts automatically, locking in place if a fall starts. Steel erectors, deck crews, and maintenance workers clip in for hands-free protection with minimal fall distance. You still need a full-body harness and a rated anchor to complete the system.

Features

Compact and light

The aramid web and small thermoplastic housing keep weight and bulk off the harness.

Aramid webbing lifeline

High-strength UHMWPE and polyester web retracts and locks in a fall.

Stainless internals

Non-corrosive components for long service life.

100 percent fall protection

Continuous hands-free protection from a single compact device.

Quick lockup

Short arrest distance keeps clearance demand low.

42 in arrest

Fast lockup per the spec sheet.

Mind the anchor height and the edge. Standard SRLs are rated for overhead anchorage; foot-level or leading-edge use requires an LE-rated device. Confirm anchor placement, swing-fall, and clearance below the work surface before each use - run the Fall Protection Calculator below, and rig per the Frontline manual.

How to Use the RPA061R

Follow the manufacturer's manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Inspect. Check the aramid webbing, braking, housing, and hooks before each use.
  2. Anchor. Connect to a rated anchor per the manual.
  3. Connect to the harness. Attach to the dorsal D-ring.
  4. Check the gates. Confirm every hook is closed and locked.
  5. Verify clearance. Confirm fall clearance and swing-fall; run the calculator below.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least every 6 months. Pull the equipment from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Lifeline webbing/cable: cuts, fraying, abrasion, burns, or chemical damage.
  • Braking: lifeline must lock sharply on a quick pull test.
  • Housing: cracks, loose fasteners, or damaged lifeline exit.
  • Energy absorber: deployment or torn cover.
  • Hooks and swivels: deformation, corrosion, or gates that fail to lock.

Retire the equipment immediately after any fall arrest event or if any inspection point fails. Destroy retired equipment so it cannot return to service.

Frequently Asked Questions

How big is the RPA061R?
Compact - a small thermoplastic housing with a up to 12 ft aramid web lifeline, built to stay light on the harness.
What is the webbing?
High-strength UHMWPE and polyester aramid webbing - strong and abrasion-resistant at low weight.
What is the rated capacity?
One worker up to 310 lbs; 5,000 lb connector strength.
Is it leading-edge rated?
No - this is a standard overhead-anchorage aramid SRL. For foot-level or sharp-edge tie-off use a leading-edge rated device.
What is the arrest distance?
42 in maximum per the spec sheet.
Has it been independently tested?
Yes - the RPA061R test report is linked in Submittals.
What is the difference between fall arrest and fall restraint?
