The 138T and 238T panels from McElroy Metal represent a new era in standing seam technology. Both feature symmetrical standing seam systems with mechanically seamed caps, offering easy repair and outstanding recovery solutions. The main difference lies in their panel heights and widths, with the 138T having a 1-3/8" seam height and panel widths of 12", 16", or 18". The 238T has a seam height of 2-3/8" with available panel widths of 16", 18", and 24". Both panels allow for minimum slopes of 1/12, even lower, with prior approval. The 138T/238T are available in 22 and 24-gauge steel, aluminum, and copper substrates.

These panels share several advantages, including ease of installation over solid decking, watertight seam design, and the ability to replace individual panels. The 138T/238T makes on-site panel curving possible; however, seam-mounted fall protection anchors should never be used on curved or radius panels.

Fall Protection for 138T/238T Panels

For fall protection, the 22- and 24-gauge steel versions of the 138T and 238T panels are compatible with the  SSRA1 seam anchorSSRA2 roof jack adapter, and  SSRA3 horizontal lifeline mount adapter. We recommend the Ridge Pro for steeper roofs with a 7/12-12/12 pitch for copper and aluminum panels, while the  Super Anchor 2815 is suitable for lower-pitched systems with a ridge cap.

The systems are designed for installation over solid decking, ensuring structural integrity and stability. Seam heights are 1", and these panels are available in 12", 16", and 18" widths.

Manufactured at facilities in Adelanto, CA; Peachtree City, GA; and Sunnyvale, TX, Medallion I and Medallion II panels undergo rigorous testing to ensure compliance with industry standards. With Class A fire ratings, Class 4 impact resistance, and approval from regulatory authorities, these panels offer exceptional performance and reliability in roofing applications.

Fall Protection For Medallion I And Medallion II Batten Seam Panels

The batten strip style seam of Medallion I and Medallion II renders them incompatible with seam-mounted fall protection devices like  SSRA1SSRA2, and SSRA3 products. Workers may also use the  Ridge Pro Steep Assist for 7/12 to 12/12 Medallion series roofs. For pitches less than 7/12, the Super Anchor 2815 is a suitable alternative, offering secure anchorage points by mounting underneath the ridge cap.

It's crucial to highlight that curved versions of Medallion I and Medallion II panels are only compatible with standard fall protection devices if explicitly approved by a competent person who has thoroughly inspected the roof system. This precautionary measure ensures compliance with safety regulations and mitigates potential risks associated with fall hazards.

Medallion-Lok Snaplock Panels

Fall Protection For Medallion-Lok Snaplock Panels

For fall protection, 22 and 24-gauge steel Medallion-Lok panels are fully compatible with the  SSRA1 Seam Anchors, the SSRA2 Adjustable Roof Jacks for walk boards, and the SSRA3 Anchor Plates for horizontal lifelines.

The Ridge Pro Steep Assist is recommended for aluminum Medallion-Lok panels with pitches ranging from 7/12 to 12/12. It provides secure, non-penetrating anchorage points. Alternatively, the Super Anchor 2815 is ideal for aluminum panels with pitches less than 7/12. These permanent anchors, hidden underneath the ridge cap, ensure reliable fall protection.

Meridian Snaplock Panels

Meridian SnapLock panels are versatile choices for both commercial and residential applications. The snaplock design includes a hidden nail flange to fasten the panels to the decking directly. The next panel hides the fasteners, allowing quicker installations and lower labor costs. You can order these panels in 24 or 26-gauge steel, with 12" or 16" widths available. All versions have a 1" seam height and require a minimum 3/12 slope for proper drainage.

Manufacturing facilities in Clinton, IL; Peachtree City, GA; Adelanto, CA; and Sunnyvale, TX produce Meridian panels. Meridian panels undergo rigorous testing to ensure compliance with industry standards.

Fall Protection For Meridian Snaplock Panels

The SSRA1 Seam Anchors are fully compatible with 24 gauge steel Meridian panels. To deploy walkboards and horizontal lifelines, mount the SSRA2 Adjustable Roof Jack or SSRA3 Anchor Plate adapters on top of the SSRA1 Seam Anchors.

You have two alternative options for the 26 gauge steel version of the Meridian panel. For pitches 7/12-12/12, the  Ridge Pro Steep Assist hooks over the ridge to prove a reliable tie-off. For pitches less than 7/12, we recommend installing permanent Super Anchor 2815 strap anchors underneath the ridge cap.

Mirage II Panels

Mirage II panels are manufactured in Adelanto, CA, and Ashburn, GA, and are prevalent in the mini-storage industry, where short panel runs and durability are required.

Fall Protection For Mirage II Panels

Due to the shape of the Mirage II seams, the SSRA1 Seam Anchors, SSRA2 Adjustable Roof Jacks, and SSRA3 Anchor Plate fall protection devices are not compatible with Mirage II panels. Instead, we recommend the  Ridge Pro Steep Assist anchor for roofs ranging from 7/12 to 12/12 and the Super Anchor 2815 for roofs with 6/12 or less. These anchors provide secure, non-penetrating anchorage points, ensuring worker safety during installation and maintenance.

Trap-Tee Panels

McElroy's Trap-Tee system stands 2 3/4" tall and addresses common issues of trapezoidal standing seam roofs. Site-formed and mechanically seamed eliminates leaking end laps, enhances wind uplift capacity, and simplifies repairs.

With a lifespan nearing 60 years, this Houston, TX manufactured panel is an excellent choice for budget-conscious projects down to ¼:12 slope. Panel widths of 18" or 24" with 20, 22, and 24 gauge steel are available options.

Fall Protection for Trap-Tee Panels

For fall protection, the preferred products for Trap-Tee panels are the SSRA1 Seam Anchors, SSRA2 Adjustable Roof Jacks, and SSRA3 Anchor Plates, suitable for all widths and gauges of the Trap-Tee panel series. Alternately, the  Ridge Pro Steep Assist can be used with pitches of 7/12 to 12/12. For pitches less than 7/12, the Super Anchor 2815 offers secure anchorage while hidden under the ridge cap.
