APEX Foam Lined Safety Glasses

The Malta Dynamics APEX Foam Lined Safety Glasses combine a sealed safety glass with a removable-fit foam gasket, so a single pair blocks dust, debris, and airborne particles while staying lighter and cooler than a full goggle. The scratch-resistant polycarbonate lens and wrap-around frame deliver wide-angle coverage on construction, maintenance, and industrial jobsites.

These glasses are rated for high impact and tested to the ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2020 standard, and the clear, tinted, and mirror grey lenses are also independently certified to MIL-PRF-32432A ballistic fragmentation protection. Choose single pairs or 12-pack quantities in clear, tinted, or mirror grey lenses to outfit a whole crew.

Who Needs This Product

The APEX Foam Lined Safety Glasses are primary eye protection for any worker exposed to flying particles, dust, grinding debris, or wind-driven contaminants. The foam gasket seals the gap between the frame and the face left by an open safety glass, so they suit dusty demolition, masonry, woodworking, and metal fabrication tasks where a standard glass lets debris in but a full goggle would be too hot. Each worker wears one pair as part of a complete jobsite PPE program alongside head, hand, and hearing protection.

Features

Foam gasket seal

A foam gasket seals the frame to the face to block dust, debris, and airborne particles without the heat of a full goggle.

Scratch-resistant polycarbonate

Lightweight polycarbonate lenses resist scratches and high-velocity impacts to keep vision clear on demanding job sites.

Wrap-around coverage

The wrap-around frame gives wide-angle peripheral vision and side coverage against debris from any angle.

Ballistic rated

Independently certified to MIL-PRF-32432A ballistic fragmentation protection for environments with higher-velocity debris.

Three lens options

Clear for indoor or low-light work, tinted for bright outdoor glare with 99.9% UV protection, or mirror grey for full sun.

Anti-fog and durable

An anti-fog and scratch-resistant coating on a lightweight polycarbonate frame holds up to all-day, repeated jobsite wear.

Eye protection is task specific. Confirm the lens tint suits your light conditions and that ANSI/ISEA Z87.1 glasses are rated for your hazard. Replace any pair with scratched, pitted, or cracked lenses, inspect before each use, and pair eye protection with the head, hand, hearing, and fall protection your jobsite requires.

Selection and Use Overview

Use per the Malta Dynamics product instructions. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Match the lens. Clear for indoor or low-light, tinted for bright outdoor glare and UV, and mirror grey for full sun.
  2. Confirm the rating. Verify ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2020 high-impact protection meets your task hazard assessment.
  3. Seat the foam seal. Position the foam gasket against the face so it seals the frame to the brow and cheeks.
  4. Fit and adjust. Set the temples so the glasses sit securely, without pressure points, and are clear of other PPE.
  5. Inspect before use. Check the lens and foam for scratches, cracks, or wear, and replace damaged pairs.
  6. Clean and store. Clean lenses with mild soap and water, then store them away from abrasive surfaces.

Inspection and Replacement

Inspect each pair before use. Remove eye protection from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Lens: scratches, pitting, crazing, or cracks that obscure vision or weaken impact protection.
  • Frame: cracks, broken temples, or loss of the wrap-around shape.
  • Foam gasket: compressed, torn, or detached foam that no longer seals to the face.
  • Coating: degraded anti-fog or scratch coating that hazes vision.
  • Markings: the Z87 and manufacturer markings must remain legible.

Replace eye protection after any direct impact event, when the lens can no longer be cleaned to clear vision, or when the foam seal fails. Safety eyewear is not repaired in the field.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the APEX Foam Lined Safety Glasses different from regular safety glasses?
A foam gasket lines the inside of the frame and seals the gap between the glasses and the face. That seal blocks dust, debris, and airborne particles that get past an open safety glass while remaining lighter and cooler than a full safety goggle. The result is a goggle-style sealing in a safety glass form factor.
What safety standards do these glasses meet?
The APEX Foam Lined Safety Glasses are rated for high impact and tested to the ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2020 standard, with conformity verified by ICS Laboratories, an independent ISO 17025 accredited lab. The clear, tinted, and mirror grey lenses are also certified to MIL-PRF-32432A ballistic fragmentation protection (Class 1 Level 3).
What lens colors are available and when should I use each?
Three lenses are offered. Clear (SG1200) is best for indoor or low-light work. Tinted (SG1210) cuts bright outdoor glare and provides 99.9 percent UV protection. Mirror grey (SG1220) is suited to full-sun conditions. All three share the same frame, foam seal, and impact rating.
Are the lenses anti-fog and scratch-resistant?
Yes. The polycarbonate lenses carry an anti-fog and scratch-resistant coating to keep vision clear through temperature changes and daily jobsite handling. Clean them with mild soap and water and store them away from abrasive surfaces to protect the coating.
Can these be worn with a hard hat and other PPE?
Yes. The low-profile wrap-around frame is designed to pair with a hard hat, hearing protection, and face shields as part of a complete jobsite PPE program. Adjust the temples so the glasses seat securely without interfering with other equipment.
How are they sold and what is the bulk option?
Each lens color is available as a single pair or in a 12-pack. The 12-pack is the cost-effective bulk option for outfitting a full crew or restocking a safety program with one lens color at a time.
Do these glasses replace a face shield or goggles?
They are primary eye protection. For heavy splash, molten metal, or extreme dust, a sealed goggle or a face shield worn over safety glasses may still be required by your hazard assessment. The foam seal narrows the gap for dust and debris but does not make these glasses a chemical splash goggle.
