2NA Double D-Ring Body Belt with Back Pad

The Miller 2NA is the classic positioning belt: a forged D-ring at each hip for pole-style positioning, a 3 inch back pad that spreads the load across the lower back, and nylon webbing built for daily jobsite abuse.

Made in the United States and TAA compliant, the 2NA serves work positioning and restraint. Body belts are not fall arrest equipment; pair the belt with an independent fall arrest system where a fall hazard exists.

Who Needs This Product

The 2NA is for positioning work done the traditional way: a lanyard from hip ring to hip ring around the pole or structure, worker leaned back, both hands on the job. The 3 inch pad makes the lean comfortable for hours. Where the work also carries a fall hazard, wear it with a full body harness and independent arrest connection, or step up to a harness with integrated side rings like the H500 Construction line.

Features

Double Positioning D-Rings

A forged D-ring at each hip takes the positioning lanyard around a pole or structure.

3 Inch Back Pad

The wide pad spreads positioning loads across the lower back for all-day lean comfort.

Nylon Webbing

Durable lined nylon construction stands up to daily jobsite wear.

Tongue Buckle Closure

A belt-style tongue buckle with grommets gives a positive, indexed fit adjustment.

Made in the USA

Built in the United States and TAA compliant for federal purchasing.

Body belts are not fall arrest equipment. OSHA prohibits body belts for personal fall arrest. Use this belt for work positioning and restraint only, rigged so free fall is limited to 2 ft per OSHA 1926.502(e), with an independent fall arrest system where a fall hazard exists.

Compliance Standards

OSHA 1926.502(e)

Approved for work positioning device systems rigged to limit free fall to 2 ft. OSHA has prohibited body belts for fall arrest since 1998.

ANSI A10.32

Body belts serve positioning and restraint under ANSI construction fall protection practice, never fall arrest.

TAA Compliant

Listed as TAA compliant by the manufacturer, allowing purchase on federal projects that require Trade Agreements Act sourcing.

Typical Applications

Pole and structure positioning with a hip-to-hip lanyard.
Utility, telecom, and arborist-adjacent positioning tasks.
Restraint lines that keep workers away from unprotected edges.
Municipal and government work specifying American-made equipment.
Positioning alongside a full fall arrest harness where hazards exist.
Crews replacing worn legacy positioning belts one-for-one.

Fitting Overview

  1. Position the belt at the natural waist with the pad centered on the lower back.
  2. Set the tongue buckle so the belt is snug but allows a flat hand between belt and body.
  3. Route the positioning lanyard around the structure and connect to both hip D-rings.
  4. Verify both gates are locked and the rigging limits free fall to 2 ft.
  5. Lean back to load the system gradually before releasing hand holds.

Use limitations and care instructions are in the Miller I119 manual linked below.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect the belt before each use, and have a competent person other than the user formally inspect it at least annually. Record the results on the inspection form linked in the documentation section.

  • Webbing: cuts, frays, burns, chemical damage, UV fading, or broken stitching.
  • D-rings: cracks, corrosion, distortion, or sharp edges.
  • Buckle and grommets: bent tongues, elongated holes, or loose grommets.
  • Pad (if fitted): torn stitching or compressed, hardened padding.

Retirement triggers: any loading event, any defect found during inspection, or any condition where the inspector cannot positively verify the belt is fit for service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the 2NA for fall arrest?
No. OSHA has prohibited body belts for personal fall arrest since 1998. The 2NA is approved for work positioning and restraint only; wherever a fall hazard exists, wear a full body harness with an independent arrest system.
How do the two D-rings work?
A positioning lanyard routes from one hip ring, around the pole or structure, back to the opposite hip ring. The worker leans against it and works hands-free, with free fall limited to 2 ft by the rigging.
What sizes are stocked?
L and XL ship from stock. Miller makes the 2NA in S through 3XL; contact us for other sizes.
Is the 2NA made in the USA?
Yes. The manufacturer lists the country of origin as the United States, and the belt is TAA compliant for federal purchasing.
How is the 123N different?
The 123N is the single-ring compact version for restraint lines and light positioning. The 2NA adds the second hip ring and the 3 inch pad for full pole-style positioning work.
Should I use a belt or a harness with side D-rings?
If the task ever combines positioning with a fall hazard, a harness with integrated side rings such as the H500 Construction line covers both with one piece of equipment. The belt suits belt-only tasks and workers already wearing a separate arrest harness.
How often does the belt need to be inspected?
Inspect it before each use and have a competent person inspect it at least annually. Retire the belt after any loading event or failed inspection.
