Super Anchor ARS Tile and Slate Permanent Roof Anchor Kit with Dual Flashing

The Super Anchor ARS Tile and Slate anchor is a permanent roof anchor built for high profile concrete and clay tile roofs. It shares the ARS design criteria but adds a taller 8 inch stem so the connector hole clears the tile profile. Each kit ships with everything needed for a complete waterproof installation, including a 20 by 20 inch aluminum and EPDM flashing base that conforms to S-tiles and high profile tiles.

Choose your stem cover color at checkout to match the roof: black, light gray, or terra cotta. The anchor is fabricated from 14 gauge 430 stainless steel and meets OSHA 1926.502 and ANSI Z359.18-17 Type D. The tile roof instruction manual includes a 10 page flashing specification guide for high and low profile tile penetrations.

Who Needs This Product

The ARS Tile and Slate anchor is a permanent fall arrest anchor for roofers, solar installers, and service trades working on concrete or clay tile roofs. The taller stem and dedicated tile flashing base make it the right ARS model where standard 2x8 flashing cannot seal a high profile tile. Complete the system with a full-body harness, a connecting device, and a competent-person anchor layout.

Features

Taller 8 inch tile stem

The extended stem keeps the connector hole accessible above high profile concrete and clay tiles.

Dual flashing system

A 20 by 20 inch aluminum and EPDM base conforms to S-tiles for a 100 percent waterproof seal.

Color matched stem covers

Choose black, light gray, or terra cotta to complement popular roof tile colors.

14 gauge 430 stainless

Corrosion resistant stainless steel construction rated to a 5,000 lb minimum breaking strength.

Complete kit

Each kit ships with the anchor, flashing, stem cover, and attachment hardware for a full install.

10 page flashing guide

The instruction manual details practical high and low profile tile penetration methods.

This anchor is a fall arrest anchorage, not a complete system. Install onto framing capable of supporting 5,000 lb or two times the intended load, use a full-body harness with a connecting device, and confirm fall clearance. Teko nails alone do not arrest a fall; the attachment bolt is required. Run the Fall Protection Calculator below before you tie off.

Compliance Standards

OSHA 29 CFR 1926.502

Federal construction fall protection anchorage requirements.

ANSI Z359.18-17 Type D

American National Standard for anchorage connectors, Type D.

How to Install the ARS Tile Anchor

Follow the Super Anchor Safety instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Locate the anchor. Position below the hip or ridge per a competent-person layout, onto a top chord capable of 5,000 lb.
  2. Attach the anchor. Bolt under or bolt through with the supplied 5/16 inch grade 8 bolt; add a 2x4 backer where required.
  3. Flash the penetration. Install the tile flashing base and stem cover following the flashing specification guide.
  4. Seal. Confirm a waterproof pre-flashed or double jack system per the National Tile Roofing Association methods.
  5. Verify. Confirm the connector hole is accessible, connect your PPE, and confirm fall clearance.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least annually. Remove the product from service for any condition below.

  • Anchor body: cracks, deformation, corrosion, or elongated holes.
  • Coating: worn or damaged galvanizing, dacromet, or powder coat at the connection point.
  • Fasteners and flashing: loose, missing, backed-out, or leaking hardware.
  • D-ring or connection point: burrs, sharp edges, or excessive wear.
  • Labels: illegible or missing product identification.

Retire the anchor immediately after any fall-arrest event, or if any inspection point fails.

Frequently Asked Questions

What stem cover colors are available?
Three: black (2820), light gray (2820-G), and terra cotta (2820-T). Select your color at checkout. Refer to the specification table above for full details on construction, finish, and sizing. Only trained workers should select, install, and use fall protection equipment for its intended application. Always inspect the product before each use and take it out of service if you notice any damage, deformation, or excessive wear.
Why does the tile anchor have a taller stem?
The 8 inch stem, 1.5 inches taller than the 2x8 anchor, keeps the connector hole accessible above high profile concrete and clay tiles. Confirm each component in the system is compatible and rated for the intended use before connecting to it. Only trained workers should select, install, and use fall protection equipment for its intended application.
Is the flashing included?
Yes. Each kit ships with the 20 by 20 inch aluminum and EPDM tile flashing base, a stem cover, and attachment hardware. Follow the recommended fastener pattern and placement so the connection is secure, and re-check the installation before you rely on it for fall arrest.
What is the anchor made of?
14 gauge 430 stainless steel, rated to a 5,000 lb minimum breaking strength. The specifications listed on this page outline the build details you need for your application. If you have any doubt about the correct setup, consult a qualified person or the manufacturer instructions before putting the system into service.
What standards does it meet?
OSHA 1926.502 and ANSI Z359.18-17 Type D for anchorage connectors. Pair it only with connectors and equipment that are approved for use together so the complete system performs as designed. Before every use, confirm the product is compatible with the rest of your fall protection system and that you have adequate fall clearance below the work area.
What is the maximum user weight?
310 pounds including tools and equipment, per the ARS instruction manual. See the Technical Specifications on this page for the exact materials, dimensions, and ratings. Store it in a clean, dry place away from heat and chemicals to help preserve its condition between uses. Keep the manufacturer instructions with the equipment so anyone using it can reference the approved procedures.
Do I need a harness with this anchor?
Yes. The anchor is an anchorage point only. You need a full-body harness and a connecting device to complete the personal fall-arrest system. Pair it only with connectors and equipment that are approved for use together so the complete system performs as designed. Store it in a clean, dry place away from heat and chemicals to help preserve its condition between uses.
