RO2W 2-Way Standing Seam Roof Anchor

The Frontline RO2W is a 2-way standing seam roof anchor that clamps to the seam instead of puncturing the panel. Wide and thin brackets close on the seam profile, four 1/2 in Grade 5 bolts with lock springs draw them tight, and a welded 1/2 in steel O-ring stands ready as your tie-off point - no holes, no sealant, no leaks.

Machined from ASTM A36 rated steel with galvanized and zinc plated finishes, the RO2W measures 2 in x 4 in x 6 in, weighs 8 lbs, and carries a 5,000 lbf tensile strength with a 310 lb max user capacity. Intertek tested it to ANSI/ASSP Z359.18-2017 as a Type T anchorage connector, and it aligns with OSHA 1926 and 1910. Bolts and washers are included.

Who Needs This Product

This product is a non-penetrating anchorage connector for personal fall arrest or restraint systems on standing seam metal roofs. Metal roofing crews, HVAC techs, and solar installers clamp it to the seam, tie off, and remove it without leaving a mark on the panel. Each worker still needs a full body harness and a compatible connecting device attached to the O-ring. For single-point seam clamping with round-point seams, compare the SSRA1 Standing Seam Roof Anchor.

Features

Non-penetrating clamp

The 2-way bracket pair grips the seam profile - the panel is never drilled.

Welded O-ring tie-off

A 1/2 in welded steel O-ring presents a generous connection point.

Grade 5 hardware included

Four 1/2 in x 2-1/2 in Grade 5 bolts with washers and lock springs ship in the box.

ASTM A36 rated steel

Galvanized and zinc plated for life on a metal roof.

Minutes to set

Position, torque the four bolts, pull-test, work.

Independently tested

Intertek Z359.18-2017 Type T test report included in Submittals.

Match the clamp to the seam. The RO2W earns its rating clamped on a compatible standing seam profile with all four Grade 5 bolts torqued per the Frontline manual. Verify panel and seam condition with a qualified person before anyone ties off. One worker per anchor at 310 lbs maximum.

Compliance Standards

ANSI Z359.18-2017 Type T

American National Standard for anchorage connectors. Intertek tested the RO2W: design, static, dynamic, residual, and serviceability static load requirements all PASS - see the test report in Submittals.

OSHA 29 CFR 1926.502

Federal construction fall protection criteria, including anchorage strength requirements.

OSHA 29 CFR 1910.140

General industry personal fall protection system requirements.

Typical Applications

Metal roof installationTie-off that moves down the roof with the panel crew.
HVAC and mechanicalService rooftop units without penetrating the roof.
Solar on standing seamAnchorage during clamp-mounted array installs.
InspectionsFast, non-marring access for assessors.
Maintenance and repairsRecurring tie-off with zero panel damage.
Snow guard and accessory workAnchor while retrofitting seam hardware.

How to Install the RO2W Seam Anchor

Follow the manufacturer's manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Verify the roof. Have a qualified person confirm the seam profile, panel gauge, and attachment can support anchorage loads.
  2. Inspect the anchor. Check brackets, O-ring, weld, bolts, and lock springs before installation.
  3. Position on the seam. Set the wide and thin brackets over the seam at the work location.
  4. Torque the bolts. Tighten all four 1/2 in Grade 5 bolts per the Frontline manual.
  5. Connect. Attach your connecting device to the O-ring and perform a pull test.
  6. Verify clearance. Confirm fall clearance below the work surface before work begins.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least every 6 months. Pull the equipment from service for any of the conditions below.

  • O-ring and weld: deformation, cracks, nicks, or corrosion.
  • Brackets: bending, cracks, or gouging at the seam interface.
  • Bolts and lock springs: thread damage, missing washers, loss of torque.
  • Seam and panel: deformation or tearing at the clamp location.
  • Markings: labels must be present and legible.

Retire the anchor immediately after any fall arrest event or if any inspection point fails. Destroy retired equipment so it cannot return to service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the RO2W penetrate the roof panel?
No. The 2-way bracket design clamps the standing seam between a wide and a thin bracket drawn together by four Grade 5 bolts - no holes, no sealant, no leak paths.
What is the rated capacity?
One worker with a maximum weight of 310 lbs including clothing and tools. The anchor carries a 5,000 lbf tensile strength.
Has it been independently tested?
Yes. Intertek tested the RO2W to ANSI/ASSP Z359.18-2017 as a Type T anchor: design, static, dynamic, residual, and serviceability requirements all passed. The report is linked in Submittals.
What hardware ships with it?
Four 1/2 in x 2-1/2 in Grade 5 bolts with 1/2 in washers and lock springs - everything needed to clamp the seam.
How does it compare to the SSRA1?
The RO2W is a 2-way clamp anchor with a welded O-ring, at home on common vertical seams. The SSRA1 Standing Seam Roof Anchor fits 95 percent of today's standing seam profiles with round-point setscrews and stainless construction. Talk to us about your specific panel profile.
Is it reusable?
Yes. Remove it after the job, inspect it, and redeploy. Anchors subjected to a fall arrest event must be retired.
What is the difference between fall arrest and fall restraint?
Fall arrest catches a worker after a fall happens; fall restraint prevents the worker from reaching the fall hazard in the first place. The right anchor placement supports either system when configured per the manual. For a deeper walkthrough with system examples, read our guide: Fall Arrest vs. Fall Restraint. Use the Fall Protection Calculator below to size the right system for your job.
