Frontline TAN07-US Patriot 7' Confined Space Aluminum Tripod
The TAN07-US Patriot is the Made in USA tier of the Frontline 7' confined space tripod platform. It is Buy American Act and BABA (Build America, Buy America) compliant, listed by SKU on the Frontline Patriot certification letter, and built for federal infrastructure procurement under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
It carries a 350 lb Working Load Limit compared to the 310 lb rating on the standard MEGApod TAN07, runs on the same Dolomiticert-tested SA17 platform, and assembles stateside under ISO 9001 controls at an ISO 9001-certified US facility. Order a TAN07-US when your contract documents require domestic-content fall protection, when your project carries a federal funding source subject to BABA, or when you need the higher Working Load Limit Patriot tier.
Built for federal procurement and domestic-preference contracts
Federal construction, infrastructure, and rescue projects funded under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) are subject to Build America, Buy America (BABA) domestic-content rules. State DOTs, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), the EPA, and Department of Energy contractors routinely require iron, steel, manufactured products, and construction materials to be produced in the United States. The TAN07-US Patriot is named by SKU on the Frontline Buy American Act / BABA certification letter dated February 27, 2024 and signed by Larry Schertzer, VP Sales. The cert ships with every order so your project file is procurement-ready on day one. If your project documents reference FAR 52.225 Buy American, the Trade Agreements Act, or BABA, the TAN07-US is the SKU that clears the check.
Features
Auto-locking telescoping legs
Each aluminum leg adjusts independently and locks via a removable locking pin. As the legs spread to working width the leg locks in the cast aluminum head spring into position automatically: no separate latch step.
Dual forged swivel eye bolts
Two integrated forged swivel eye bolts in the cast aluminum head accept locking carabiners for a pulley, an SRL mounting bracket, or a secondary tag line. The center eye bolt carries the primary fall protection device.
Anti-skid rubber pad feet with safety chain
Powder-coated aluminum feet with bonded rubber pads grip plywood, concrete, asphalt, and steel grating. The included safety leg chain connects all three feet and is required for full-strength compliance on uneven terrain.
Cast aluminum tripod head
The cast aluminum head houses the spring-loaded leg locks and carries both forged swivel eye bolts. Powder-coated for corrosion resistance in wastewater, chemical plant, and coastal infrastructure environments.

Capacity range note (ANSI Z359)
The tripod platform is rated to a 350 lb Working Load Limit. Per the manufacturer's spec sheet, ANSI Z359 applies only to workers within the capacity range of 130 to 310 lbs. The 350 lb figure is the full Working Load Limit of the tripod itself. When you connect a fall-arrest SRL or retrieval system to this tripod, the user weight should fall within the ANSI Z359-stated range to keep the connected equipment certification valid. For users heavier than 310 lb, consult the SRL and harness manufacturer's stated capacity ranges, as well as any project-specific competent-person review.
Compliance
OSHA 1910 and 1926
Permit-required confined spaces (1910.146) and Subpart M fall protection (1926.502). Suitable as a portable anchorage for retrieval-mode and fall-arrest applications in general industry and construction.
ANSI Z359.1

Made in USA, third-party tested
Buy American Act / BABA certification
The Frontline Patriot Buy American certification letter dated February 27, 2024 and signed by Larry Schertzer, VP Sales at Frontline Fall Protection (6 Lee Blvd, Malvern, PA 19355) names TAN07-US explicitly on the list of products made in the USA using US and imported components. The cert covers the full Patriot family (PUS34-US, QAN75-US, RUG50-US, TAN07-US, 310VQC, 350CQC, LES61S-US, LES62R-US, PSSW2R-US, 350TWQC, RAG503W-US, DAN75-US, and other Patriot SKUs). It supports the Buy American Act, the Build America, Buy America provisions of the IIJA, and federal FAR 52.225 domestic-preference clauses.
ISO 9001 manufacturing
The Patriot tier is manufactured at an ISO 9001-certified US facility and is DQS Inc.-certified. Every TAN07-US comes off the same quality-controlled line as the rest of the Patriot harness, lanyard, SRL, and confined space line, with documented inspection and traceability.
Independent platform strength test
The underlying SA17 MEGApod tripod platform was strength tested by Dolomiticert SCARL (an Italian ILAC-MRA and ACCREDIA-accredited test lab, LAB N. 1539) per test report 170325, which the TAN07-US Patriot inherits. The platform passed the ANSI/ASSE Z359.1:2007 strength test at 22.2 kN (5,000 lbf). The TAN07-US adds domestic assembly and the 350 lb Working Load Limit on top of that tested platform. See the test report and the Buy American certification linked in Submittals below.
Applications

Utility and telecom vault work
Power utility vault entry, communications manhole work, and substation maintenance on federally subsidized broadband and grid-hardening projects.
Setup procedure (per TAN07-US User Manual)
- Position the telescoped tripod alongside the manhole or other opening.
- Remove the locking pin from each leg, extend the leg to its full 7 ft length, and reinsert the locking pin through the aligned hole. Insert the locking clip.
- Elevate the tripod and spread the legs to maximum width (60 in foot-to-foot). The leg locks in the cast aluminum head should spring into the locked position automatically as the legs spread.
- Connect the safety leg chain between all three feet. The chain is required for full strength and adds stability on uneven terrain.
- Mount a 3-way retrieval SRL (such as the Frontline RAG503W-US) to any tripod leg using the locking pins furnished with the SRL. Confirm the pin bearings are fully through the bracket and that the locking clips are inserted.
- Open the PUS34-US split sheave pulley, place the SRL cable over the sheave, close the pulley, and attach the pulley to the center eye bolt on the tripod head using a locking carabiner.
- Remove the manhole or vault cover. Reposition the assembled tripod directly over the opening so the head eye bolt is centered above the entry point.
- Extract the SRL cable and attach the snaphook to the back fall-arrest D-ring of the entrant's full-body harness.
- When work is complete, reverse the procedure: lift cable, reposition tripod off the opening, cover the manhole, telescope the legs in, and stow.
Pre-use inspection checklist (per TAN07-US User Manual)
Inspect before every use. If any item below fails, remove the tripod from service and contact Frontline for repair or reconditioning. Do not field-repair or modify Frontline tripods.
- Tripod is not bent, dented, or visibly damaged anywhere on the head, legs, or feet.
- The safety leg chain is present and in good condition (no missing, broken, or stretched links).
- Leg locks in the tripod head spring into the locked position when the legs are spread.
- Both forged swivel eye bolts in the head are present, free to rotate, and not bent or damaged.
- Locking pins for all three legs are present, straight, and accept locking clips.
- Telescoping leg sections slide freely, lock at the intended extension hole, and show no fatigue cracking around pin holes.
- Rubber pad feet are bonded and not torn, missing, or worn smooth.
- Powder coating shows no through-coat corrosion on the head or feet.
- No substituted parts. Use only Frontline OEM components.
- Inspect the surrounding work area and clear debris that could interfere with operation or cause injury.
Calculating fall clearance
The TAN07-US provides an overhead anchorage point up to 84 in (7 ft) above grade. The required fall clearance below the work surface depends on the SRL connected to the tripod, not on the tripod itself. For a typical Frontline RAG503W-US 3-way retrieval SRL anchored at the head, plan for the SRL's stated maximum arrest distance plus harness stretch plus a 3 ft safety factor below the entrant's feet. Anchor point must be directly above the user. Off-axis loading creates swing-fall hazard and increases total fall distance versus a vertical fall. Run the math through the Fall Protection Game Plan below.
Frequently asked questions
What makes the TAN07-US different from the standard TAN07 MEGApod tripod?
Three differences. First, the TAN07-US is Made in USA and ships with a Frontline Buy American Act and BABA (Build America, Buy America) compliance letter that lists TAN07-US by SKU, so it qualifies for federally funded infrastructure work. Second, the TAN07-US Patriot tier carries a 350 lb working load limit versus 310 lb on the MEGApod TAN07. Third, the TAN07-US is built on the same Dolomiticert-tested SA17 platform as the MEGApod TAN07 but is assembled stateside under ISO 9001 quality controls at the US manufacturing facility named on the BABA cert.
Is the TAN07-US Buy American Act and BABA compliant?
Yes. The Frontline Buy American Act and Build America, Buy America (BABA) certification letter dated February 27, 2024 and signed by Larry Schertzer, VP Sales, lists TAN07-US explicitly as a product made in the USA using US and imported components. The cert ships with every order so federal contractors, USACE, DOT, EPA, and any contractor on an IIJA-funded project can attach it to their procurement file.
What is the working load limit of the TAN07-US Patriot tripod?
350 lbs working load limit with a 5,000 lb minimum breaking strength. Note that ANSI Z359 only applies to workers within the capacity range of 130 to 310 lbs. The 350 lb rating is the full Working Load Limit of the tripod platform; the ANSI Z359.1 strength test was performed within the standard's stated user range.
How tall does the TAN07-US extend and what is the footprint?
Height with legs at minimum extension is 48 in (4 ft). Height with legs at maximum extension is 84 in (7 ft). Distance between feet at minimum extension is 38 in. Distance between feet at maximum extension is 60 in. Closed for transport the tripod stands 55 in tall by 16 in diameter and weighs 40 lbs bare.
What standards does the TAN07-US meet?
OSHA 1910 and 1926, ANSI Z359.1 (Anchorage Connectors), ANSI Z359.4 (Assisted-Rescue and Self-Rescue Systems), and ANSI Z359.18 (Anchorage Connectors for Active Fall Protection). Strength validation was performed by Dolomiticert SCARL, the Italian ILAC-MRA and ACCREDIA-accredited test lab (LAB N. 1539), on the underlying SA17 MEGApod platform per test report 170325, which passed ANSI/ASSE Z359.1:2007 strength at 22.2 kN (5,000 lbf).
Where is the TAN07-US made?
The TAN07-US is made in the USA at the ISO 9001 certified US manufacturing facility named on the Frontline Patriot Buy American certification letter. The facility holds ISO 9001 certification via DQS Inc. The product uses US labor and a blend of US and imported components, which is the qualifying standard for the Buy American Act and the federal BABA rule on infrastructure projects.
Will the TAN07-US qualify for federal procurement on IIJA-funded infrastructure projects?
Yes. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 carries the Build America, Buy America (BABA) provisions that require iron, steel, manufactured products, and construction materials used on federally funded infrastructure to be produced in the United States. The Frontline Patriot Buy American Cert lists TAN07-US as a covered Made in USA product, so it can be specified on USACE, DOT, EPA, Department of Energy, and other federally funded projects subject to BABA without triggering a non-domestic waiver.
Can I mount any SRL to the TAN07-US tripod?
Yes. The TAN07-US is designed principally for use with the Frontline RAG503W-US Patriot 3-way SRL and the PUS34-US split sheave pulley, but any properly rated SRL with a tripod mounting bracket and locking pins can be attached to any leg. The cast aluminum head includes two integrated forged swivel eye bolts that accept a locking carabiner for the pulley and SRL mounting bracket. Use the center eye bolt for the primary fall protection device.
Does the TAN07-US include a winch or SRL?
No. The TAN07-US is the bare Patriot tripod platform: head, telescopic legs, locking pins, feet, and the required leg safety chain. The RAG503W-US 3-way retrieval SRL, the PUS34-US pulley, locking carabiners, and full-body harness (such as the Frontline 310VQC or 350CQC Patriot harness) are sold separately. If you want the tripod and retrieval SRL together in one part number, look at the TAN07RA-US Patriot kit.
What fall clearance do I need for confined space entry with the TAN07-US?
Fall clearance depends on the SRL connected to the tripod, not the tripod itself. For a Frontline RAG503W-US 3-way SRL anchored at the TAN07-US head (84 in maximum extension), required clearance below the work surface is typically the SRL arrest distance plus harness stretch plus a 3 ft safety factor. Use the Fall Protection Game Plan calculator below to run exact numbers for your retrieval setup, vertical work, or rescue scenario.
