Ladder Stability Anchor with Two 4 ft Straps

The Guardian 10808 attacks the top cause of ladder accidents, the ladder moving, by anchoring the ladder itself to the structure. The kit includes the stability anchor and two 4 ft straps that secure the ladder top against kick-out, slide, and wind per the instruction manual.

It complements the OSHA 1926.1053 requirement that ladders be secured against displacement, and pairs with the Safe-T Ladder Extension for a complete access setup.

Who Needs This Product

Crews secure ladders with rope and hope more often than anyone admits. The 10808 makes the tie-off a system: anchor to the structure, strap the ladder top, and the ladder stays put through the day of climbing, gusts included. For service companies whose techs work alone off extension ladders, a secured ladder is the difference between policy and practice.

  2. Verify the structure. The supporting structure must meet the strength requirements in the instruction manual.
  3. Install per the manual. Follow the substrate, fastener, and orientation requirements exactly; fill every required fastener position.
  4. Verify the connection. Confirm the anchor is fully seated and the connection point is accessible and undamaged.
  5. Connect the system. Attach a compatible connecting device and verify the complete personal fall arrest system with a competent person.
  6. Check clearance. Confirm fall clearance below the work area and minimize swing fall hazards before work begins.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before every use, and have a competent person perform a documented inspection at least every six months under ANSI Z359.2 practice. Remove the anchor from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Cracks, corrosion, or deformation of the body, connection point, or welds.
  • Loose, missing, damaged, or worn hardware and fasteners.
  • Elongation or wear at the D-ring or connection eye.
  • Missing or illegible labels.
  • Any evidence the anchor has arrested a fall.

Retirement triggers: any fall event on the anchor, or any condition where the inspector cannot positively verify it is fit for service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the 10808 include?
The ladder stability anchor plus two 4 ft straps that secure the ladder per the instruction manual. Installation hardware requirements are listed in the manual by substrate.
Does OSHA require ladders to be secured?
OSHA 1926.1053 requires ladders be secured against displacement when conditions create that hazard, and every extension ladder on a hard surface or in wind qualifies in practice. The 10808 turns that requirement into a repeatable setup.
Does it work with the Safe-T Ladder Extension?
Yes. The stability anchor secures the ladder to the structure while the 10800 extension provides the handrail transition at the top; together they address the two failure points of ladder access.
Which standards does this product meet?
It is compliant with OSHA 1910.140, OSHA 1926.502 when used within a complete, competent-person verified fall protection system, and Guardian products are tested in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory.
When should this product be retired?
Retire it after any fall event, any failed inspection item, or whenever an inspector cannot positively verify it is fit for service. The inspection criteria in the linked documentation define the pass-fail conditions.
Is documentation available for submittal packages?
Yes. The manufacturer documentation linked on this page covers installation, specifications, and compliance, and every file is hosted on our site for direct download into your submittal package.
How fast does this product ship?
It is stocked for shipment in 1 business day, and shipping cost is calculated based on the delivery location at checkout.
