C5004 6 ft Single-Leg Internal Shock-Absorbing Lanyard with 2 Steel Snap Hooks
The Malta Dynamics C5004 is a fixed 6 foot single-leg energy-absorbing lanyard that connects a worker's full body harness to an anchorage in a personal fall arrest system. The shock absorption is built directly into the lanyard rather than housed in a separate pack, which makes this the lightest version in the line while still limiting the maximum arresting force to 900 pounds or less.
It is built from one-inch polyester webbing and finished with two 3,600 lb gate steel snap hooks tested to ANSI standards. The C5004 meets ANSI Z359.13-2009 and is third-party tested under ISO 17025 per the ANSI testing protocols. This listing ships as a bulk pack so a crew is outfitted from one line item.

Who Needs This Product
The C5004 is the connecting device in a personal fall arrest system, with the shock absorber built into the webbing for the lightest single-leg option in the line. It is a straightforward fixed 6 foot lanyard for general arrest applications on construction and industrial sites. Each connected worker also needs an ANSI full body harness and an anchorage rated for the load. Because it is a single-leg lanyard, the worker is unprotected during repositioning; for 100 percent tie-off use a double-leg lanyard instead.
Features
Built-in shock absorption
The energy absorber is integrated into the webbing, making this the lightest single-leg lanyard in the line while limiting arresting force to 900 pounds or less.
Two steel snap hooks
Self-locking alloy steel snap hooks on both ends with 3,600 lb gate strength connect to the harness and anchorage.
Fixed 6 ft length
A standard 6 foot working length for general fall arrest applications under OSHA Subpart M.
One-inch polyester webbing
Durable polyester web stands up to jobsite wear and is easy to inspect.
ANSI tested connectors
The 3,600 lb gate snap hooks are tested to ANSI requirements for side and front loading.
Bulk pack for crews
Ships as a multi-unit pack so a whole crew is equipped from one line item.

A single-leg lanyard does not provide 100 percent tie-off. The worker is unprotected while disconnecting and reconnecting. Verify fall clearance below the work surface before each use, keep free fall within 6 feet, confirm the anchorage is rated for the load, and retire the lanyard immediately after any fall-arrest event or if the shock absorber shows any sign of deployment.
Compliance Standards
ANSI Z359.13-2009
ANSI/ASSP standard for energy-absorbing lanyards and shock-absorbing connecting devices.
ISO 17025
Third-party laboratory testing performed under ISO 17025 accreditation per the ANSI protocols.
OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart M
Construction fall protection, including personal fall arrest requirements under 1926.502.
OSHA 29 CFR 1910
General industry personal fall protection for walking-working surfaces.
Typical Applications
Use Overview
Use per the Malta Dynamics lanyard user instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.
- Inspect. Check the webbing, stitching, shock absorber, and all connectors before each use.
- Verify the harness. Wear an ANSI-compliant full body harness, fitted and adjusted, with the dorsal D-ring centered between the shoulder blades.
- Verify the anchorage. Confirm the anchorage is rated for the personal fall arrest load and located to keep free fall within 6 feet.
- Calculate clearance. Add free fall, deceleration distance, harness stretch, and a safety margin, and confirm sufficient fall clearance below the work surface.
- Connect. Clip one snap hook to the dorsal D-ring and the other to the anchorage, confirming each gate is fully closed and locked.
- Minimize swing falls. Keep the anchorage as directly overhead as possible to reduce pendulum swing.
Inspection and Retirement
Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least every six months or per your program. Remove the lanyard from service for any of the conditions below.
- Webbing: cuts, frays, abrasion, burns, chemical damage, or broken fibers.
- Stitching: pulled, cut, or broken threads anywhere on the assembly.
- Shock absorber: any sign of activation, deployment, or the warning label being exposed.
- Hooks: cracks, deformation, corrosion, or a gate that does not close and lock.
- Labels: must remain legible and intact.
Retirement triggers: any fall-arrest event, any sign the shock absorber has deployed, or any defect listed above. A lanyard exposed to a fall must be removed from service permanently.
