Cross-Arm Strap with Two D-Rings

The 8183 turns structure into anchorage: wrap the strap around a beam, pass the small D-ring through the large one, and clip in. Seven stocked lengths from 2 to 20 ft wrap everything from purlins to girders, with the choke design cinching tight so the anchor stays where it was set.

Built to meet OSHA and ANSI anchorage connector standards, the strap installs in seconds, weighs ounces on the belt, and moves with the crew all day.

Who Needs This Product

The cross-arm strap is the most-used anchor on most jobsites: portable, structure-agnostic, and fast. The choke configuration keeps the D-ring positioned under load, and the length run means the same product wraps a 4 inch purlin or a 6 ft column. Match the length to the member; extra strap is extra swing.

Features

Choke-Through Design

Pass the small D-ring through the large one and the strap cinches down on the member, holding position under load.

Seven Stocked Lengths

2, 3, 4, 6, 10, 12, and 20 ft cover members from purlins to girders.

Integral D-Rings

Forged D-rings give the connecting device a proper interface at any wrap size.

Lightweight Webbing

High-quality polyester rides on the harness or belt between anchor points.

Adjustable Fit

The wrap adapts to the member; no sizing beyond picking the length.

Reusable Temporary Anchor

Installs, moves, and reinstalls all day without tools.

The anchor is only as good as the structure. Connect only to members that meet OSHA anchorage strength, position to minimize free fall and swing, and inspect before every use.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I install a cross-arm strap?
Wrap the strap around a structural member rated for fall arrest, pass the small D-ring through the large D-ring, and pull tight. The choke cinches the strap onto the member, and the connecting device clips to the small D-ring.
Which length do I need?
Just enough to wrap the member and choke: roughly three times the member width plus working room. Extra length lets the anchor slide and adds swing fall.
What structure can it wrap?
Any member meeting the OSHA 5,000 lb anchorage requirement: steel beams, tower legs, engineered wood, and heavy pipe. Pad sharp edges before wrapping.
Is it reusable?
Yes. It is a temporary, reusable anchorage connector that moves with the worker; inspect it before every installation.
Can two workers share one strap?
No. One personal fall arrest system per anchor point unless a qualified person has engineered otherwise.
What is the difference from the 8185?
The 8185 uses one D-ring and one web loop instead of two D-rings, a lower-cost configuration for the same wrap-and-choke job.
How often does it need inspection?
Before each use, plus documented competent person inspection at least annually. Retire it after any fall arrest loading or failed inspection.
