Who Needs This Product

The Falcon+ is the overhead SRL for plants, utilities, and construction sites that mount a unit above the work and leave it there: corrosion-resistant internals for years of service, side payout that keeps the cable running smoothly off-angle, and a maintenance program that is inspections instead of recertification invoices.

Features

Side Payout Design

The cable exits the side of the housing, reducing drag and wear and smoothing operation when the worker moves off-center.

Corrosion-Resistant Internals

Stainless steel and aluminum components extend service life in wet and corrosive environments.

Dual Swivels

Swivels at the housing and snap hook stop cable twist and ease connection to the anchorage.

Engineered Retraction

Spring tension keeps the cable taut without pulling on the worker.

No Factory Recertification

Documented competent person inspections keep the unit in service.

Impact-Resistant Housing

The nylon housing takes the knocks of a working anchor point.

Compliance Standards

ANSI Z359.14

Certified as a self-retracting lifeline for overhead anchorage applications.

OSHA 1926.502 and 1910.140

Meets OSHA connecting device requirements for personal fall arrest systems, rated to 420 lb per OSHA.

CSA

Listed by the manufacturer as meeting CSA self-retracting device standards for Canadian jobsites.

No Factory Recertification

Kept in service through documented competent person inspections per the manual.

Typical Applications

Fixed overhead anchor points in plants and warehouses.
Construction, utilities, mining, and confined space entry points.
Loading docks, mezzanines, and platform edges with overhead structure.
Tank, silo, and vessel access.
Crane and rail maintenance bays.
Any overhead tie-off where a lanyard gives up too much clearance.

Setup Overview

  1. Inspect the housing, cable, load indicator, and connectors before use.
  2. Mount the unit to an overhead anchorage rated for fall arrest using the top swivel connector.
  3. Connect the lifeline snap hook to the harness dorsal D-ring and verify the gate locks.
  4. Check retraction and brake lock-up with a sharp pull before committing to the system.
  5. Verify fall clearance below the work level and keep the lifeline clear of edges not rated for contact.

Full use instructions and clearance tables ship with the unit.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect the unit before each use, and have a competent person inspect it on a documented schedule per ANSI Z359.14 and the manual.

  • Housing: cracks, distortion, loose fasteners, or a seized swivel.
  • Cable: pay it out fully and check for kinks, birdcaging, broken wires, and corrosion.
  • Load indicator and absorber: any deployment means immediate removal from service.
  • Connectors: gates close and lock; no cracks, corrosion, or distortion.
  • Retraction and brake: smooth retraction and a positive lock on a sharp pull.

Retirement triggers: any fall arrest event, deployed indicator or absorber, cable damage, or any failed inspection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where should the Falcon+ be anchored?
Overhead, at or above the level that keeps the cable near vertical over the worker. Overhead mounting minimizes free fall and swing exposure and is what the unit is certified for.
What is the side payout design?
The cable exits the side of the housing rather than the bottom center, which reduces drag and wear when the worker moves off-center and keeps retraction smooth across the working radius.
Which length should I pick?
Choose the shortest length that covers the working area from the anchor; 20, 30, and 50 ft ship from stock.
Is it suitable for corrosive environments?
Yes. The internals are stainless steel and aluminum specifically to extend service life in wet, humid, and corrosive industrial settings.
What is the capacity?
420 lb per OSHA including the worker, clothing, and tools. Under ANSI-based programs, follow the capacity on the device label.
Does this unit need annual factory recertification?
No. Factory recertification is not required on this series; keep the unit in service with pre-use checks and documented competent person inspections per the manual.
How often does it need inspection?
Inspect before each use: housing, full cable payout, load indicator, retraction, brake lock-up, and connectors. A competent person inspects it on a documented schedule per ANSI Z359.14 and the manual.
