TR1000 Temporary Guardrail Post, 5-Pack
The Malta Dynamics TR1000 is a reusable, OSHA-compliant perimeter guardrail built for flat and low-slope roofs and other open leading edges. Each unibody carbon steel post screws down to a wood or concrete deck, and you run standard 2x4 construction lumber through the brackets to form the top rail, midrail, and toe board. It is a passive fall-prevention system, so workers stay back from the edge without a harness or tie-off.
This 5-pack (TR1000-5) gives you five 50-inch posts spaced up to 8 feet apart, enough to guard roughly 32 feet of straight edge in four bays or to wrap a corner. The safety-yellow powder-coated finish resists weather and stays visible, the no-weld unibody design holds up to repeated jobsite use, and the posts nest and stack so a crew can carry several by hand.

Where This Guardrail Is Used
The TR1000 is designed for flat and low-slope roofs, as well as other elevated walking and working surfaces with exposed edges at 6 feet or higher, such as open-sided floors, decks, mezzanines, and leading edges during construction. The post fastens directly through the deck into wood or concrete with screws, so it suits roofs and surfaces you can fasten into. Never install it on gravel, loose, or slippery surfaces, and keep any guardrail run at least 10 feet from power lines. When the roof slope is steeper than 4/12, or tools and materials could fall to a lower level, a 2x4 toe board is required. Because it is a fall-prevention guardrail, it can substitute for a personal fall arrest system or safety netting where a guardrail is permitted.
Features
Built for flat roofs
Surface-mounted perimeter guardrail for flat and low-slope roofs and open leading edges, keeping crews back from the edge at 6 feet or higher.
Wood or concrete mount
Each post fastens flat to a wood or concrete deck with 11 screws, so a single design works for roofing and concrete jobsites.
Uses standard 2x4 lumber
Run construction-grade 2x4s through the brackets for the top rail, midrail, and toe board. No proprietary rails to buy or store.
Unibody, no welds
The one-piece carbon steel post has no welds to fail, making it more durable than welded posts through repeated use.
Safety-yellow powder coat
A weather-resistant powder-coated finish in high-visibility safety yellow holds up outdoors and doubles as a visual edge cue.
Reusable and stackable
Posts are removable, reusable job to job, and stack flat so a crew can carry several at once and store them between projects.

This is a fall-prevention guardrail, not an anchor. Never connect a personal fall arrest, work positioning, climbing, or rescue system to a guardrail post, and never lean or climb on the rail. The deck and fasteners carry the load, so a competent person must confirm the structure can hold the system. Install each post facing in toward the work surface, fill all 11 fastener holes with approved screws, and keep posts no more than 8 ft apart.
Compliance Standards
OSHA 29 CFR 1926.502
Construction fall protection systems criteria, including guardrail height and strength requirements for leading edges.
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.29
General industry walking-working surfaces, covering guardrail system criteria for fixed and temporary edges.
ANSI A10.32-2012
ANSI/ASSP fall protection standard for construction and demolition operations.
ANSI Z359.1
Fall protection code referenced in the Malta Dynamics user instruction manual for the guardrail system.
Typical Applications
Installation Overview
Install per the Malta Dynamics TR1000 user instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.
- Inspect. Check each post for distortion, sharp edges, cracks, corrosion, and legible labels before use.
- Plan the layout. Verify with a competent person that the deck can support the system, measure the edge, and space posts a maximum of 8 ft apart and at least 10 ft from power lines.
- Position. Set each post along the edge facing in toward the work surface, on a clean wood or concrete deck, never on gravel or loose material.
- Fasten. Drive 11 approved screws per post into the deck, filling every fastener hole.
- Install rails. Run 2x4 lumber for the top rail at 42 in, the midrail halfway to the surface, and a toe board when the slope exceeds 4/12; overlap rails at least 12 in at each end.
- Verify. Confirm the top rail resists 200 lb, the midrail 150 lb, and the toe board 50 lb of downward or outward force, and that nothing can be climbed.
Inspection and Retirement
Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least once per year. Remove a post from service for any of the conditions below.
- Post: distortion, bending, cracks, worn parts, or corrosion beyond surface discoloration.
- Brackets and edges: sharp edges, burrs, or nicks from jobsite handling.
- Finish: deep gouges exposing bare steel to rust.
- Labels: must remain legible and attached to the post.
- Any post subjected to the forces of a fall or impact must be removed from service immediately.
Clean with water and a mild detergent, wipe dry, and store in a cool, dry, clean place out of direct sunlight. Do not disassemble, modify, or repair the post; only Malta Dynamics may service it.
