This is the replacement weight-compensating face shield bracket for Malta Dynamics APEX safety helmets. The weight-compensating design centers the face shield in the stowed position, so the visor sits balanced and compact instead of pulling the helmet forward. It is the go-to bracket when an original needs replacing or when a crew is building out a fresh APEX face shield setup.

Setup Overview

Install per the Malta Dynamics instructions. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Confirm the helmet. Verify that the helmet is a Malta Dynamics APEX slotted-cap safety helmet.
  2. Mount the bracket. Seat the slotted cap adapters into the helmet until they lock.
  3. Install the window. Snap a Malta Dynamics toric face shield window into the LeverLock pattern - clear or Shade 5 green.
  4. Wear eye protection. Put on ANSI Z87.1-approved safety glasses or goggles under the face shield.
  5. Check the balance. Stow the shield and confirm the weight-compensating bracket centers it.
  6. Remove when needed. Press the slotted cap adapters to release the bracket without tools.

Inspection and Care

Inspect the bracket and window before each use. Remove from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Bracket: cracks, broken LeverLock tabs, or slotted cap adapters that no longer lock.
  • Pivot: a stow position that no longer holds the shield balanced and clear.
  • Window: cracks, deep scratches, crazing, or heat distortion that blocks vision.
