MightEvac Retrieval SRL with Tripod Bracket

The MightEvac SRL-R pairs a MightyLite-series self-retracting lifeline with an integrated retrieval winch: fall arrest during the entry, and a 4:1 mechanical advantage crank when the entrant has to come out. This package includes the tripod mounting bracket and pulley with carabiner, ready to mount on the tripod or davit you already own.

Rated to 310 lb and meeting OSHA requirements with ANSI certification. For crews without a tripod, the complete kit with the 7 ft tripod is also stocked.

Who Needs This Product

This is the MightEvac for programs that already own tripods and davits: the SRL-R, bracket, and pulley bolt onto existing structure, adding compliant retrieval to every entry point without buying legs you have twice over. One attendant works the crank; the 4:1 advantage does the lifting.

Features

Integrated Retrieval Winch

The SRL-R mechanism converts from fall arrest to retrieval with a quick-activating engagement.

4:1 Mechanical Advantage

The crank handle gives one attendant the leverage to raise an unconscious entrant.

Bracket and Pulley Included

Mounts to Miller tripods and compatible davits, with the pulley and carabiner routing the cable.

Corrosion-Resistant Housing

Stainless steel and aluminum construction lives above manholes and vaults for years.

Heavy-Duty Carry Handle

Moves the unit between entry points and doubles as the rescue grip.

UV-Resistant Labeling

Scratch-resistant graphics keep ratings and inspection data legible.

Retrieval is not optional in permit spaces. OSHA 1910.146 requires retrieval equipment for vertical permit-space entry unless it increases risk. Verify bracket compatibility with your tripod, train the attendant, and practice the conversion before the first entry.

Compliance Standards

OSHA 1910.146

Provides the non-entry retrieval capability OSHA requires for vertical permit-required confined space entry.

ANSI Certified

The SRL-R unit is certified to the applicable ANSI standards with a 310 lb weight rating.

OSHA 1926.502

Meets fall arrest connecting device requirements during the entry itself.

SRL-R Class

Integrated rescue retrieval self-retracting device: one unit for arrest and recovery.

Typical Applications

Adding retrieval to tripods and davits already in the fleet.
Permit-required confined space entry: manholes, vaults, tanks, and pits.
Water and wastewater utility access.
Industrial tank and vessel entry programs.
Multi-tripod programs sharing one MightEvac between stations.
Contractors meeting 1910.146 with existing support structure.

Setup Overview

  1. Inspect the housing, cable, load indicator, and connectors before use.
  2. Mount the unit to the tripod bracket or davit and secure the pulley and carabiner per the manual.
  3. Connect the lifeline snap hook to the harness dorsal D-ring and verify the gate locks.
  4. Check retraction and brake lock-up with a sharp pull before committing to the system.
  5. Verify fall clearance below the work level and keep the lifeline clear of edges not rated for contact.

Full use instructions and clearance tables ship with the unit.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect the unit before each use, and have a competent person inspect it on a documented schedule per ANSI Z359.14 and the manual.

  • Housing: cracks, distortion, loose fasteners, or a seized swivel.
  • Cable: pay it out fully and check for kinks, birdcaging, broken wires, and corrosion.
  • Load indicator and absorber: any deployment means immediate removal from service.
  • Connectors: gates close and lock; no cracks, corrosion, or distortion.
  • Retraction and brake: smooth retraction and a positive lock on a sharp pull.

Retirement triggers: any fall arrest event, deployed indicator or absorber, cable damage, or any failed inspection.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in this package?
The MightEvac SRL-R with 50 ft cable, the tripod mounting bracket, and the pulley with carabiner. The tripod is not included; the complete kit with a 7 ft tripod is stocked separately.
How does retrieval mode work?
The attendant engages the quick-activating retrieval mechanism and cranks the handle; the 4:1 mechanical advantage lets one person raise an entrant without additional rigging.
Will the bracket fit my tripod?
It mounts Miller tripods and compatible davit systems. Confirm your model with us before ordering if it is not a Miller tripod.
Why is the capacity 310 lb?
Retrieval units are rated for the entrant plus equipment under the winch load case. Verify the total suspended load stays within 310 lb.
Does this satisfy OSHA confined space rules?
It provides the retrieval capability 1910.146 requires for vertical entries. Your program still needs the permit, atmosphere monitoring, attendant, and training the standard demands.
What lengths are available?
50 ft is stocked; 100 and 130 ft versions are made by the vendor. Contact us for availability.
How often does it need inspection?
Inspect before each use: housing, full cable payout, load indicator, retraction, brake lock-up, and connectors. A competent person inspects it on a documented schedule per ANSI Z359.14 and the manual.
