Tie Down PX3 Penetrating Mobile Fall Protection Cart for 5 Workers
The PX3 is Tie Down's lightest mobile fall protection cart at 430 lb, light enough to hoist onto a roof with the four hoist rings and roll into position on its 300 lb flat-free tires. Five steel spikes drive into the roof deck the instant a fall loads the cart, so there is no ballast to stack and no drilling or sealing of the membrane.
It protects up to five workers at once, three in fall arrest and two in fall restraint, on TPO, EPDM, ISO, EPS, 20 to 22 gauge metal deck and plywood with slopes up to 1:12. The cart ships job site ready on a standard pallet with a locking toolbox and retractable handles. The PX3 Rescue Winch (72819) adds 100 ft of galvanized lifeline for assisted rescue.

The finance payment shown is a sample, not an offer. Financing is provided through APPROVE and its lender network, subject to credit approval, at a 60 month term; your offered rate and term may differ. Financing is available on single items priced at 1,500 dollars and up, including smaller items bundled with the unit.

430 lb penetrating cart, 5 workers, 28 to 30 ft safe work zone, ships job site ready on a pallet.

Manual winch with 100 ft galvanized lifeline, folding handle, swivel snap hook with impact indicator and carry bag. Mounts to the PX3 for assisted rescue.
Everything in the package ships together on one pallet by LTL freight. The fixed freight shown under Shipping above covers the whole package to a commercial address in the continental US and is added at checkout. Alaska, Hawaii and Canadian orders have additional shipping fees based on carrier cost at the time of order.
Who Needs This Product
The PX3 is the anchorage point of a complete fall protection system for crews working on low slope commercial roofs where there is no parapet, no permanent anchor, and no time to install one. Roofing contractors, HVAC and solar installers, and building maintenance crews roll it to the work area, tie off, and move it as the work moves. Each worker still needs a full body harness, a self-retracting lifeline or lanyard sized to the range of use, and a written rescue plan.
Features
45 percent lighter
At 430 lb the PX3 weighs about 45 percent less than comparable carts, so a crane or hoist places it on the roof in one lift and two workers roll it anywhere on the deck.
Five steel penetrator spikes
In a fall the cart tips, the spikes bite into the deck and the cart stops the fall. The spikes stay above the membrane until they are needed, so the roof is not penetrated in normal use.
Three fall arrest tie-offs
Three red fall arrest connection points sit low on the cart, with two fall restraint shackles on the top corners for workers who stay back from the edge.
Rolls on flat-free tires
Four 300 lb flat-free tires (1,200 lb total) with retractable handles make repositioning a two person job. Pin the handles back in the rest position before tying off.
Locking toolbox
A standard locking toolbox keeps harnesses, SRLs and connectors dry and secure on the roof between shifts.
Rescue winch ready
The optional PX3 Rescue Winch (72819) mounts to the cart and gives 100 ft of galvanized lifeline for raising or lowering a fallen worker.
Setback and surface rules apply. Position the front guard plate at least 8 ft from the leading edge on an approved surface (TPO, ISO, EPS, EPDM including ballasted EPDM, 20 to 22 gauge metal deck, plywood) with slope no steeper than 1:12. The PX3 is not for concrete, tectum, gypsum, loose laid membranes, ice or snow. Range of use is double the setback distance up to 15 ft, and 30 ft beyond that. Confirm fall clearance with the calculator below.
Compliance Standards
OSHA 29 CFR 1926.502
Construction fall protection systems criteria, including anchorage requirements for personal fall arrest systems.
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.140
General industry personal fall protection systems.
ANSI Z359.6-2016
Design of active fall protection systems; drop tested per the manual with a 310 lb mass and 6 ft free fall, up to three consecutive drops.
Declaration of Conformity

Typical Applications
How to Use
Follow the Tie Down instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.
- Verify the surface. Confirm the roof type is on the approved list, the slope is 1:12 or less, and the deck will carry the cart and crew.
- Hoist and position. Lift by the four hoist rings, roll the cart so the front guard plate is at least 8 ft from the edge and square to it, then pin the handles in the rest position.
- Set the spikes. Follow the manual to confirm the penetrator spikes are armed and the cart is on a clean, dry area of deck.
- Connect. Clip fall arrest workers (up to three) to the red low tie-off points and restraint workers (up to two) to the top shackles, with connecting devices sized to the range of use.
- Reposition safely. When the work moves, keep restraint lengths 5 ft shorter than the distance to the edge while rolling the cart to the next position.
Inspection and Retirement
Inspect before each use, with a documented competent person inspection at least annually. Remove the system from service for any of the conditions below.
- Spikes and penetrator mechanism: bending, cracks, corrosion or a mechanism that does not move freely.
- Tie-off shackles and hoist rings: distortion, cracks, worn pins or missing retainers.
- Frame and welds: cracks, bends or corrosion from a fall or rough handling.
- Tires and handles: damaged tires, bent axles, handles that will not pin in the rest position.
- Labels and the instruction plate: illegible or missing markings.
Remove the system from service immediately after any fall arrest event and have it inspected by a competent person before it returns to use.
