Tie Down Squatch Non-Penetrating Mobile Fall Protection Cart for 4 Workers
The Squatch is the heavyweight of the non-penetrating line: 1,200 lb of ballasted cart that anchors two workers in fall arrest and two in restraint without a spike or a fastener. Twenty 40 lb ballast plates ride on a frame with four corner fall arrest rings and 300 lb flat-free tires, and the crank jacking system sets the ballast on the deck.
It is approved on more surfaces than any other Tie Down cart: concrete, TPO, EPDM, mod bit, BUR, 18 gauge metal deck, and even compacted soil and asphalt on a Class A slope. Pair two Squatch carts with the 14405 Horizontal Lifeline Kit and you get a 100 ft span for three fall arrest and four restraint workers. US patent 11,826,589.

The finance payment shown is a sample, not an offer. Financing is provided through APPROVE and its lender network, subject to credit approval, at a 60 month term; your offered rate and term may differ. Financing is available on single items priced at 1,500 dollars and up, including smaller items bundled with the unit.

1,200 lb non-penetrating ballasted cart, 4 workers, lifeline ready.

Add a second Squatch to anchor the 14405 lifeline across 100 ft of roof edge with no penetration.

Adjustable lifeline that rigs between two Squatch carts for a 100 ft span covering three fall arrest and four restraint workers.
Everything in the package ships together on one pallet by LTL freight. The fixed freight shown under Shipping above covers the whole package to a commercial address in the continental US and is added at checkout. Alaska, Hawaii and Canadian orders have additional shipping fees based on carrier cost at the time of order.
Who Needs This Product
The Squatch is for crews that need a non-penetrating anchor for more than one fall arrest worker, or who want to string a horizontal lifeline between two mobile anchors across a long roof, a slab, or a stretch of soil or asphalt. General contractors on tilt up and precast, site crews near excavations, and roofers on finished membranes use it. Each worker needs a harness, a connecting device sized to the setback, and a rescue plan.
Features
Two fall arrest, two restraint
A fall arrest ring on each corner and restraint points for two more workers. Use one fall arrest worker at an 8 ft setback or two at 10 ft.
Widest surface list
Concrete, TPO, EPDM, mod bit, BUR, 18 gauge metal deck, and compacted soil or asphalt on Class A slopes. Not ISO, EPS, PVC or gypsum.
Horizontal lifeline ready
Two Squatch carts plus the 14405 Horizontal Lifeline Kit span 100 ft for three fall arrest and four restraint workers at a 15 ft setback on buildings at least 20 ft tall.
Twenty 40 lb ballast plates
800 lb of removable plates on a 400 lb frame. Remove plates for the crane pick and replace them on the deck.
Crank jacking system
Lift the wheels and set the ballast with the jacking handle; crank back to roll on four 300 lb flat-free tires (1,800 lb total).
Patented, drop tested
US patent 11,826,589. Drop tested with a 310 lb mass and 6 ft free fall per surface; DoC ETR-61010 R1 is in the submittals.
Setback depends on the load. One fall arrest worker needs an 8 ft setback, two need 10 ft, and a horizontal lifeline between two Squatch carts needs 15 ft with a minimum 20 ft building height. Approved surfaces only, slope 1:12 or less (Class A slope on soil and asphalt). Confirm fall clearance with the calculator below.
Compliance Standards
OSHA 29 CFR 1926.502
Construction fall protection systems criteria for anchorages and personal fall arrest systems.
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.140
General industry personal fall protection systems.
ANSI Z359.6-2016
Design of active fall protection systems; 310 lb, 6 ft free fall drop tests by surface.
Declaration of Conformity
Tie Down DoC ETR-61010 R1 covers the Squatch alone and as a horizontal lifeline anchor with the 14405 kit.
Typical Applications
How to Use
Follow the Tie Down instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.
- Verify the surface. Confirm the surface is on the approved list, slope is 1:12 or less (Class A on soil or asphalt), and it carries 1,200 lb plus the crew.
- Hoist and roll. Lift by the hoist rings (remove ballast plates for the pick if needed), roll to the setback for the load: 8 ft for one fall arrest worker, 10 ft for two, 15 ft for a lifeline.
- Set the ballast. Crank the jacking handle until the wheels lift and all twenty plates sit flat.
- Connect. Up to two fall arrest workers on the corner rings and two restraint workers, or rig the 14405 lifeline between two carts.
- Reposition. Crank the wheels down, roll, and reset the ballast before anyone ties off again.
Inspection and Retirement
Inspect before each use, with a documented competent person inspection at least annually. Remove the system from service for any of the conditions below.
- Ballast plates and frame: missing or cracked plates, bent frame, corrosion.
- Jacking system: a crank that binds or will not lift the wheels or set the plates flat.
- Corner fall arrest rings and restraint points: distortion, cracks, corrosion.
- Tires and axles: damaged tires, bent axles.
- Labels and instruction plate: illegible or missing.
Remove the system from service immediately after any fall arrest event and have it inspected by a competent person before it returns to use.
