Who Needs This Product

This kit is built for residential and light commercial roofers who need a complete single-worker fall arrest system that travels from job to job. Everything required to tie off on a pitched roof ships in one bucket: the anchor fastens over the ridge or into the field, the 50 ft lifeline drapes down the slope, and the rope grab connects the harness to the line so the worker can move up and down the roof with continuous protection. If you already own a harness or lifeline and only need the anchor, the Guardian Temper anchor is also available separately.

Features

Complete fall protection kit

Includes all essential components for safe, OSHA-compliant rooftop work: harness, 50 ft vertical lifeline assembly, reusable roof anchor, and mounting hardware in one 3.5-gallon bucket.

Ergonomic steel rope grab

The steel positioning device travels the lifeline for smooth, controlled movement along the roof, allowing the worker to reposition without disconnecting.

Durable poly steel rope

The 50 ft vertical lifeline resists cuts, abrasion, and moisture for long-term reliability in harsh jobsite environments, with a built-in energy absorber to limit arrest forces.

Adjustable Velocity harness

Five-point adjustability provides a wide range of workers with a secure, comfortable fit from a single universal-size harness with pass-through chest and leg buckles.

Reusable Temper roof anchor

The zinc-plated steel anchor installs over the peak or on the field of the roof and may be removed and reused on the next job with new fasteners.

Jobsite-ready storage bucket

The 3.5-gallon bucket protects the gear between jobs, keeps the rope clean, and doubles as a carry container that any crew member can grab off the truck.

Install the anchor per the manual. The Temper anchor must lie flush against the substrate with every required fastener hole filled: 6 fasteners per side into a truss or 16 fasteners per side into sheathing, using new fasteners on every installation. Maximum free fall is 6 ft, and the supporting structure must withstand 5,000 lbs or maintain a 2:1 safety factor. Always verify fall clearance below the work surface before anyone ties off.

Compliance Standards

OSHA 1926.502 and 1910.140

Meets the personal fall arrest system criteria for construction (Subpart M) and general industry walking-working surfaces.

Setup Overview

Setup must follow the Guardian instruction manuals included with the kit. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Inspect. Check the harness webbing and hardware, the rope, the energy absorber, the rope grab, the anchor, and all labels before every use.
  2. Install the anchor. Position the Temper anchor over the roof peak or on the field per the manual, and fill every required fastener hole for your substrate with new fasteners.
  3. Connect the lifeline. Attach the 50 ft vertical lifeline assembly to the anchor and confirm the connection is closed and locked.
  4. Don the harness. Put on the Velocity harness, adjust all five points, and confirm the dorsal D-ring sits between the shoulder blades.
  5. Attach the rope grab. Connect the rope grab and energy absorber to the dorsal D-ring, and verify the grab is oriented correctly on the line.
  6. Verify clearance. Confirm fall clearance below the work surface and minimize swing fall hazards by working in line with the anchor.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect every component before each use, and have a competent person perform a documented inspection at least every six months under ANSI Z359.2 practice. Remove the kit from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Harness: cut, frayed, or abraded webbing, damaged stitching, cracked or deformed hardware, or an illegible label.
  • Rope: cuts, abrasion, glazing, chemical damage, or discoloration of the poly steel line.
  • Energy absorber: any evidence of deployment or elongation.
  • Rope grab: cracks, corrosion, or a locking mechanism that does not engage the rope positively.
  • Anchor: warping, cracks, corrosion, or an anchor that does not lie flush against the substrate.
  • Labels: must be intact and legible on every component, with inspections current.

Retirement triggers: any fall event on any component, evidence of energy absorber deployment, or any condition where the inspector cannot positively verify the equipment is fit for service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in the Guardian 00815 Bucket of Safe-Tie kit?
The kit includes a universal-size Velocity full-body harness with pass-through chest and leg buckles, a 50 ft poly steel rope vertical lifeline assembly with a built-in energy absorber and steel rope grab, a reusable zinc-plated steel Temper roof anchor with mounting hardware, and a 3.5-gallon storage bucket. It is a complete personal fall arrest system for one worker.
What is the user weight range for this kit?
The kit supports workers from 130 to 310 lbs under ANSI and from 130 to 420 lbs under OSHA, with both ranges including all clothing, tools, and equipment carried by the worker.
What roof types can the Temper anchor be installed on?
The Temper anchor installs on wood with 3/4 in total combined thickness using 16d nails or #12 x 2 in wood deck screws, on 20 ga metal using #12 x 2 in metal deck screws, or on 4 in concrete at 4,000 psi using 1/4 in x 2-3/4 in concrete screws. Installed over the roof peak, it is compatible with pitches from 0/12 to 12/12.
Is the roof anchor in this kit reusable?
Yes. The Temper anchor may be removed and reused, provided new fasteners are used for every installation and the anchor still lies flush against the substrate. Removal can cause warping, so inspect the anchor before each reinstallation and retire it if it is deformed.
Which safety standards does this kit meet?
The kit is compliant with OSHA 1926.502 and OSHA 1910.140. The Velocity harness is certified to ANSI Z359.11, the Temper anchor is certified to ANSI Z359.18 as a Type A anchorage connector, and the kit aligns with ANSI A10.32. Guardian products are tested in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory, and the test report is available in the documentation section below.
How much fall clearance do I need below the roof edge?
Fall clearance depends on where you stand relative to the anchor, how much lifeline is between the rope grab and the anchor, and the energy absorber elongation. Maximum permitted free fall is 6 ft. Position the rope grab as high on the lifeline as practical, keep slack out of the system, and run your setup through the fall clearance calculator above before work begins.
What is the difference between fall arrest and fall restraint?
Fall arrest catches a worker after a fall happens; fall restraint prevents the worker from reaching the fall hazard in the first place. This kit is a fall arrest system, so it requires clearance below the work surface for deceleration. For a deeper walkthrough with system examples, read our guide: Fall Arrest vs. Fall Restraint.
