Gas Cutting and Welding Toric Face Shield - Shade 5 Green (2-Pack)

The Malta Dynamics Gas Cutting and Welding Toric Face Shield is an injection-molded Shade 5 green nanoparticle polycarbonate window built for gas welding and cutting operations. It is rated for severe industrial service where both high temperatures and high impacts occur, providing torch operators with a durable shaded window that meets the UV, visible, and IR transmittance requirements of ANSI Z87.1.

The toric curvature delivers a wide peripheral view, excellent downward vision, and reduced internal glare, while the integrated chin protector guards against hazards from below, such as debris and splash. The LeverLock hole pattern is compatible with Paulson weight-compensating brackets for slotted cap hard hats and safety helmets.

* This listing is a 2-pack of the Toric Face Shields only; the helmet is sold separately.

Who Needs This Product

This Shade 5 green window is for gas cutting and welding operators - oxy-fuel torch work, brazing, and soldering - who need a shaded face shield rather than a clear one. It is a replaceable shield window only: the hard hat or safety helmet is not included, and the weight-compensating cap bracket and flashlight system are sold separately. Match Shade 5 to your gas welding and cutting application, and always wear primary eye protection underneath.

Features

Fitting Overview

Fit and use per the Malta Dynamics and Paulson product instructions. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Confirm the shade. Verify that Shade 5 is correct for your gas-cutting or welding operation.
  2. Inspect. Check the window, chin protector, and LeverLock pattern for cracks, scratches, or damage before each use.
  3. Mount the bracket. Install the weight-compensating cap bracket (sold separately) on the slotted hard hat or safety helmet.
  4. Attach the window. Snap the Shade 5 window onto the bracket using the LeverLock hole pattern.
  5. Wear primary protection. Put on safety glasses or goggles under the shield.
  6. Deploy and stow. Lower the window for work; raise it above the head when not cutting or welding.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use. Remove the window from service if any of the conditions below apply.

  • Window: cracks, deep scratches, pitting from spatter, or crazing.
  • Shade: any change in tint or transmittance from heat damage.
  • Chin protector: cracks, distortion, or separation.
  • LeverLock pattern: worn or damaged attachment points that will not lock.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Shade 5 green window used for?
The HTV0004 is an injection-molded Shade 5 green polycarbonate window for gas cutting and welding operations, such as oxy-fuel torch work and brazing. The Shade 5 tint meets the UV, visible, and IR transmittance requirements of ANSI Z87.1 for those tasks.
Can I use this shield for arc welding?
No. Shade 5 is rated for gas cutting and welding, not arc welding, which requires a much darker shade. For electrical arc flash protection, use the Malta Dynamics Toric Arc Flash Face Shield instead.
Does the gas welding face shield come with a helmet or bracket?
No. The window is sold separately. The hard hat or safety helmet is not included, and the weight-compensating cap bracket and flashlight system are sold separately. The LeverLock hole pattern is compatible with Paulson weight-compensating brackets for slotted cap hard hats and safety helmets.
What impact rating does this window carry?
The window is rated ANSI Z87.1+, the high-impact rating. The polycarbonate construction performs well against both high impact and high temperature in severe industrial service.
How many windows come in this pack?
This listing is a 2-pack, giving torch operators a spare or the option to outfit two stations. Each Shade 5 window weighs about 0.60 lb.
Do I still need safety glasses with this shield?
Yes. The shield is a secondary protector and should be worn with primary eye protection - safety glasses or goggles - underneath for maximum protection.
How does the window attach and replace?
The LeverLock attachment system lets you snap the window on and off a compatible weight-compensating cap bracket for fast replacement when a window is scratched or spattered, without changing the bracket.
