SSRA1 Compatible seam profiles chart
▶ SSRA1 Compatibility Overview

This Panel Compatibility Chart is provided only as a reference for what the SSRA1 will physically mount to. It does not determine the structural integrity of any roof system or seam. It is the Qualified Person's responsibility to verify structural suitability in the event of a fall. The SSRA1 fits over 95% of standing seam panels. It is approved only for 22- and 24-gauge steel and is not compatible with aluminum, zinc, copper, or other soft metals. Do not install on curved, tapered, or batten-seam profiles.

▶ Nailstrip Panel Warning

Nailstrip-style panels are approximately 50% compatible. Some seams are too wide at the base, which can allow anchor movement during installation. Treat compatibility lists as guidelines, not guarantees.

▶ Installer Responsibility

It is solely the installer's or specifier's responsibility to confirm SSRA1 suitability for the specific panel and application. The employer and the designated Competent Person are solely responsible for evaluating, determining, and documenting the structural suitability of the supporting structure.

▶ Test Fit Recommendation

Perform a test fit with an RCT seam clamp or SSRA1 anchor well before installation to confirm proper engagement with your exact panel profile.

▶ Set-Screw Options
  • Cupped-tip: 22-ga steel—torque to 90 in-lbs
  • Nylon-tip: 22/24-ga steel—torque to 180-200 in-lbs
▶ Surface Impact

Minor seam dimpling and paint abrasion may occur. Scratches can be touched up with a matching paint pen.

Malta Dynamics B2002 Warthog Harness

The Malta Dynamics B2002 Warthog Full Body Harness delivers reliable, affordable performance. Tongue buckle leg straps and dual lanyard keepers offer additional comfort and convenience. The customizable patch allows users to record information without compromising the webbing's integrity.

Malta Dynamics C7050 50' Vertical Lifeline

The Malta Dynamics 50' Vertical Lifeline assembly offers maximum safety for workers. The assembly includes a 50' vertical lifeline, a rope grab, and an 18" shock-absorbing lanyard, making it an integral component of any personal fall arrest system (PFAS). Its robust construction ensures durability and security.

Malta Dynamics R0005 Suspension Trauma Relief Strap

The R0005 Trauma Straps assist workers in keeping blood flow to the legs in the event of a fall.  Works with most full-body harness models, this strap attaches with a quick-connect system. Reducing blood flow restriction to the brain and other organs is important to help prevent further injury.

Testing and Performance

The SSRA1 has been meticulously tested by third-party evaluators according to ISO 17025 and ANSI Z359.18 standards to verify its ultimate failure strength. Exceeding expectations, it demonstrated an impressive ultimate breaking strength of 14,500 lbs. Its patented structural design and remarkable gripping strength distinguish it from other products in the market.

SSRA1 Patented Design

The SSRA1 boasts a patented, non-penetrating design constructed from solid 6061-T6 aluminum and equipped with 12 stainless steel nylon-tip set screws. Its standard assembly includes a certified D-ring for single-worker attachment. Unlike compression-type anchors, the SSRA1’s set screws prevent sliding during impacts, providing superior safety. Its versatility is further enhanced by interchangeable adapter plates, which allow for the use of roof jacks, walkboards, and temporary horizontal lifelines.

SSRA1 Nylon Stay Safe Combo Frequently Asked Questions

What is the primary benefit of the Nylon-Tipped set screws?

They provide a nonpenetrating grip that is especially beneficial for 24-gauge steel roofs, delivering a certified hold at 180-200 in-lbs of torque without tearing or crushing the thinner metal.

Does the unboxing video above show the full safety assembly?

Yes. As shown in our unboxing video above, the SSRA1 Nylon Stay Safe Combo arrives as a complete, out-of-the-box solution including the SSRA1 base anchor, the 50-foot vertical lifeline with an integrated rope grab, trauma straps, and the OSHA-compliant Warthog harness.

Is this kit appropriate for 24-gauge standing seam roofs?

Absolutely. This specific combo is our top recommendation for 24-gauge steel. While cupped tips can be aggressive on thinner metal, the nylon inserts provide a safe, certified connection that preserves the panel's watertight warranty.

Can I use the SSRA1 anchor for temporary and permanent installations?

Yes. The SSRA1 is salt-spray tested and built from non-corrosive 6061-T6 aluminum. It is ideal for temporary project tie-offs or as a permanent facility-maintenance anchor with a low visual profile.

How does the integrated rope grab on the vertical lifeline function?

The Malta Dynamics C7050 lifeline features an automatic locking rope grab. It moves smoothly along the rope as you climb or work, but locks instantly in the event of sudden acceleration (a fall), safely arresting the user.

Are the nylon set screws reusable?

Nylon-tipped set screws are considered consumable safety items. We recommend replacing them after 3 to 5 installations, or immediately if the nylon insert appears crushed or missing, to ensure the certified coefficient of friction is maintained.

How do I avoid common setup and installation problems?

Follow these three technical protocols to ensure a safe setup:

  • 1. Precise Torque: Always use a calibrated micro-torque wrench set to 180-200 in-lbs for nylon tips. Never use impact drivers, which will strip the aluminum threads.
  • 2. Check Substrate: Confirm you are on 22 or 24-gauge steel. Do not install on soft metals like copper or aluminum, as they cannot support the required set-screw pressure.
  • 3. Correct Lifeline Orientation: Ensure the rope grab is installed with the "Up" arrow pointing toward the anchor. An inverted rope grab will not lock during a fall.

About Standing Seam Roof Anchor

In 2015, the Standing Seam Roof Anchor System began providing specialized fall protection solutions for standing seam roofs. It all started with the SSRA1 seam anchor, designed to lock onto 95% of all standing seam profiles without penetrating the panels or violating warranties. This patented innovation was the first one-piece design in the industry that used six pairs of opposing set screws for seam attachment.

A couple of months later, the SSRA2 Adjustable Roof Jack adapter was released, making walkboards possible on standing seam roofs. The adjustable height side legs stabilize the roof seams and create a stable walkboard surface. After that, we introduced the SSRA3 Anchor Plate, which allows for the deployment of temporary horizontal lifelines on standing seam roofs without penetrations. This comprehensive product line offers unmatched safety and reliability across multiple industries in the U.S. and Canada. All Standing Seam Roof Anchor products are proudly designed and fabricated in the U.S.A.
